Having enjoyed series one of Moving On I was pleasantly surprised that a second series was commission with twice as many episodes. This bumper crop features 10 stand alone stories very much in the same mould as the first series. Filmed in and around Liverpool, Moving On is the brain child of legendary writer Jimmy McGovern (who devised Cracker and The Street). Here he has delivered a gentle daytime drama that deals with social issues that affects people every day. This series focuses on the topics of alzheimer's disease, adoption, binge drinking, learning difficulties, coming out of prison and coming to terms with middle age. Again each episode is carried marvously by some excellent actors including John Simm, Jenny Agutter, Robert Glenister, Anne Reid, Hugo Speer, Claire Skinner, Roy Marsden and Corin Redgrave (who sadly passed away not long after filming his episode). I actually watched the whole set over two nights, so it just proves what an enjoyable series this is. Well worth the value considering you get twice as much viewing time as the first series.
