Book Description

1 Mar 2014 Lil' Inappropriate Books
Let's face it, reading sucks...but movies are fun! In this children's picture book parody for grown-ups, Pixar writer and artist Josh Cooley presents the most hilariously inappropriate--that is, the best--scenes from contemporary classic films in an illustrated, for-early-readers style. Terrifying, sexy, and awesome scenes from such favourite children's films as Alien, Rosemary's Baby, Fargo, Basic Instinct, Seven, The Silence of the Lambs, Apocalypse Now, The Shining, and many more are playfully illustrated and captioned to make reading fun and exciting for kids who never grew up. A sly celebration of the things fans love most about these legendary films (and movies in general), this is one book that probably should not be read at bedtime.

I'm a lurker on Mr. Cooley's website and have enjoyed these since he first started putting them online. Now you too can show your appreciation of his darkly twinkling humour, his talent for sending up kids' boring reading primers, and love of cinema at a very reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great gift & for a coffee table when friends come to visit 26 Feb 2014

Much like the book Go the F**k to Sleep this one technically isn't for children but more for the fun of the fact that it exists. Also that this is the work of a Pixar artist in his spare time is funny also. If you want to see more of the illustrations included in this book just Google "Movies R Fun" and you'll see a lot more of the images of the movies that are included.

This is THE PERFECT GIFT for friends who are movie buffs.

Really enjoyed this book. Loved the artwork and the scenes they depicted from Drive to Jaws, to my personal favorite, The Big Lebowski. Take a look at the sample pages, what you see is what you get, and I think the book is a fun, well-done conversation piece,

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for all movie buffs! 29 Mar 2014

I love everything about this book! The illustrations, the movies chosen (I didn't recognize only two of the 40 in the book), the entire idea of the book is fantastic. And the fact that it's by a story supervisor at Pixar is a nice bonus. I'm gonna buy a few more for future gifts! Would make a great gift for a movie lover.

My favorites are: Fast Times at Ridgemont high, pulp fiction, the Godfather, Fargo, Exorcist, and pretty much all others that are violent or sex-driven that make this book what it is. Totally inappropriate for kids.

Since Hollywood loves sequels, it is only natural that Mr Cooley (even his name is awesome) release a Part 2. And then a Part 3 to complete the trilogy.

This is the funniest, most clever book about classic cinema I have read in forever. It's also the book you will want to go broke buying for countless friends and family members who love movies. Terrific!

My husband is notoriously difficult to buy for. He is curmudgeonly at his most charming, surly at his most normal and snake-eyed at his most dangerous. This book made him smile. Please make more things like this. I will give you all the monies to make more things like this.
