Product Description

Product Description

In this title, the most memorable, quotable, cultish and favourite films of all time are given a new dimension. "Movie Charts" unleashes a caustic and comic eye on the best and worst lines, scenes, films and actors' filmographies from the movie world. Oscar winner or complete turkey, each film is given a graphic presentation that cuts right to the heart with staggering simplicity and exposes it to unwavering scrutiny. Hilarious graphs, pie charts, flow charts and diagrams dissect your favourite films and ensure you'll never be able to watch Jaws again without wondering what else they needed, apart from a bigger boat. Following on from the fabulous "Pop Charts", "Movie Charts" analyses pop culture with the same unwavering eye and tongue in cheek which made it's predecessor such a success. Everything from movie masterpieces to filmic follies are taken apart with bullet-point brilliance. If you've never laughed at "The Godfather", it's time to look again.

Not Pop Charts 19 Oct 2010
Format:Hardcover
I, and many of my friends, loved Pop Charts. Indeed, I would heartily recommend it. As such I was looking for more of the same, another witty and unusual look at popular media.

Wrong.

The jokes simply don't work. Sorry, not one of them.

You can almost see back at the publishers the editor saying "hey, Pop Charts was a success, we must do another one. What shall we do this time. I know, film."

And then they tried to force the Pop Charts formula onto film where it just doesn't work.

So, if like me, you loved Pop Charts then please, leave this on be. It's just nowhere near as good.

As someone who had a big bust-up at work over the presentation of information in graphical format, I thought this would make a good Christmas present for my ex-boss.
The author has selected imaginative but appropriate formats for his cinematic data. Some charts are funnier than others - some might seem funnier on Christmas day after a few after-dinner liqueurs. Not so great for the pop-culturally-challenged, but my Mum chuckled at a few, even liked some of the Pop Charts Pop Charts

not one funny page 21 Dec 2009
Format:Hardcover
i have tried hard to find some funny content is this book and failed outright. I, then, passed it around the office and challenged someone else to find something funny - results - blank stares !!

this is obviously a thinly disguised attempt to make some money by publishing a book people will regret buying.
