This album is currently on constant rotation in my house; Yuill's mixture of ambient synths and urgent electronic dance are simply superb, and his style is a successful homage to warmer synth pioneers than Numan et al - think mid-period Pet Shop Boys Behaviour: Remastered or bedroom boffins such as Owl City Ocean Eyes and White Town Women in Technology.

I loved James' first album, and wondered if I really needed another album in a similar vein. However the new one is similar enough to have the same vibe, but different enough to make you need it as well as the first.

Movement in a storm starts out with the High energy electronic Give you Away and slowly ebbs away to the air'esque Taller Son. For me this makes it the album for a night out or for calming down after work. If you have no energy agenda like all folk albums you can just listen to the lyrics all the songs have a tale to tell their tale; most seem to focus on loneliness; perhaps a reflection on Jame's break neck touring schedule.
As you listen to Movement in a Storm the music slowly fades away and along the way James treads either side of a fine line: going to far with the music. Like his first album Turning Down Water For Air there is a general ennui in the lyrics; its far from Luke Haines spreading despair just the things you go through in your life. Musically besides trying a far larger range of styles it doesn't sound that far moved on from the Original Turning water down for air but on the more electronic songs it does sound a lot richer with more going on in the music - like a Royksopp album. I am hoping that as with Water for Air there is a Fire & Earth version coming where the calmer songs get more energy and vice versa. It worked really well last time and Let him explore the songs again which makes the original albums a great pair.

F A B U L O U S !!!!!
I heard most of the songs on a private concert in Madrid for Radio 3 (Siglo XXI) and the album is SUPERB. The best contemporary electronic folk I have heard in years.
