Product Description

Product Description

Extensively illustrated and evidence based, "Movement System Impairment Syndromes of the Extremities, Cervical and Thoracic Spines" helps you effectively diagnose and manage musculoskeletal pain. It discusses diagnostic categories and their associated muscle and movement imbalances, and makes recommendations for treatment. Also covered is the examination itself, plus exercise principles, specific corrective exercises, and the modification of functional activities. Case studies provide examples of clinical reasoning, and a companion Evolve website includes video clips of tests and procedures. Written and edited by the leading experts on muscle and movement, Shirley Sahrmann and associates, this book is a companion to the popular "Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes".

This book is not as good as her previous one. Although the photos are in colour, there aren't that many.
It's not as organized as the first book; I had to constantly search the material to find the solution to the
diagnosed problem. But the solution is not that good, i.e., she always talks about movement patterns that cause these
impairements, but how about scar/fibroused tissue that simply wont let go until it is manually broken down.

Most people need better functional exercise and deep tissue work to break-up fibroused tissue, not silly "rocking" exercises.

The other reason for its lack of improvement is it has no information on back or hip pain, and limited information on shoulder dysfunction.

My advice - Dont bother with this one. Get her first book instead.

This is a masterpiece, the photograph which appears not to be of a good quality are in fact a good principle of practice to to look at different texture, age, different height, colour, structures and with the different clothes of the gender, welcome to the real world!! When I began to treat patients my professors always asked all the students to change the partner or clients to have a different touch, texture of the skin, different build up., so you may test the dysfunction from a different point of view so that is the principle of the photographs, to appreciate the dysfunction in different contexts. That is not a drawing....real life, real cases.
This is a real tool, not only a reading book, it is also a consultation book, which solves the problem of any doubts if not a second test if not more...extensive of course but complete research, peace of mind for the clear whole picture and also when the client has to come for a second session or for the Doctor, or consultant to be in charge! Also for the student who wants to know the latest or some parts very clear, be the best. This is a must.
