Book Description

Bitsie the mouse has a difficult time finding food for her family, so she decides to move by Leo the lion’s den. Bitsie gets caught while getting too curious. When Leo discovers her, Bitsie nearly becomes the lion’s dinner. She offers to help Leo someday if he will let her live, an idea he finds so funny that he sets her free.
The tables are turned when Leo gets caught in a hunter’s trap. Bitsie keeps her word and comes to the rescue. Although Leo can’t believe tiny Bitsie can help him, she tries her best. Just as the hunters are about to capture Leo, Bitsie makes one last bite, and Leo bursts forth from his trap. This retelling of Aesop’s classic fable illustrates that great things often come in small packages.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good good 2 Sept. 2014

My kids were fully engrossed in the book, the story was well written with great illustrations and they understood the messages of compassion, courage, and keeping your promises amongst other things. I followed the links at the end of the book in hopes of finding more books. I feel like I hit jackpot! There are free resources too like games, music, lessons, math, etc.... I am excited for this! http://advancepublishing.com/
5.0 out of 5 stars The Lion and the mouse! - I thought was a very good ebook with a great moral to it! 12 Aug. 2014

I chose to give this ebook that may have originally been planned only for young children could also be a great motivator for those who may seem insignificant in our world nowadays compared to those who are rich, famous or seem to have more authority and or power than some of us others could be greatly encouraged to try and be grave like this mouse was Eden when others including the King of the forest thought so but who rescued who ? That is the reason I liked it and recommend this for others who may feel so insignificant at times to give them courage when they find they need it or to help someone or animal(s) who may be in danger too at some point in their lives, see? I received this ebook very likely free from an ebook free email of free ebooks that comes into my inbox daily, see? Great job Carl keep it up! By Angela
5.0 out of 5 stars Can a mouse really help a lion? 5 Aug. 2014
By Liz Pomeroy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Meet Bitsie, the mouse and Leo, the lion. Having a hard time feeding her family, Bitsie decides to move her family to Leo's as there is always plenty of food there. Careful to always stay out the way when Leo is awake, it is not long before Bitsie gets curious. How does his fur feel? What about his whiskers? Uh Oh! Leo wakes up and is not very happy, holding Bitsie over his wide open mouth ready for a quick meal. Rather scared Bitsie says that if Leo will let her go she will one day reward him with an act of kindness. Leo thinks this is funny, that a tiny mouse would ever be able to help the King of the Jungle but agrees to let her go.

What will happen? How will Bitsie help Leo? Read this well-written and illustrated book to find out. Bright and colorful it draws you right into the story.

My two boys (6 & 9) both enjoyed this story. My older son said the book has a really good moral, and my younger son liked the excitement, especially when the hunters are approaching! We all thought the pictures were a nice complement to this version of the classic tale.
