Product Description

Susan Stephenson and her brother Arthur fly to a remote part of south America in search of her missing husband who has disappeared whilst leading an expedition into the jungle. Nobody knows for sure the purpose of this expedition, not even Dr Foster, Stephenson's close friend. By examining parts of the film shot during the last part of the expedition, they ascertain that he managed to get to Mount Rarami-the mountain of the spirits-considered taboo by the natives. Set deep in the jungle, the story of the mountain and it's curses unfold.....

I was seriously impresed with this disturbing film about tribal beliefs and rituals. The story itself is a bit far-fetched, but still it manages to hold your attention as a group of people go in search of Susans (Ursula Andress)husband, unbeknown to them that they are being followed by strange people in weird masks. There is a fair bit of gore along the way with animal and human sacrifces. Not the best acting in the world, but then i never expect films like this to be up for an oscar. If you enjoy movies with gore a plenty and cheesy storylines then this is a must for your collection, if you dislike such sceens as animals being eaten alive and people being killed in various gruesome ways then stay clear!

This is one of the better entires into the Cannibal genre. The acting is good and director Sergio Martino handles the film very well and avoids making it come across as chessy.

This version has all the blood and gore you would excpect from this kind of film such as, beheadings, people having their insides eaten and people having their heads smashed in. The film also has the beautiful Ursula Andress been stripped naked and having orange mud rubbed all over her by a couple of amazon women. This version is however slightly cut and has a couple of scenes removed. Still this is one of my personal favourite cannibal films and has my favourite score by composers Guido and Mauirizo De Angelis.

The quality is very good and the disc had both the widescreen and standard versions on a double sided disc.

Naked Ursula 8 Mar 2009

Mountain of the Cannibal God is one of the better cannibal films and has a good cast. The Best dvd comes from Blue Underground with a nice 16:9 transfer of the longest version ever ( with scenes not in any other version ) and has an interview with director Martino.

The UK dvd has been cut by the bbfc to remove scenes of animal cruelty.
If you are planning to buy the uk dvd make sure you get the original Vipco rlease as it is a doulbe sided disc with Widescreen on side a and full screen ion side b the only extras are bio / filmography for Stacy Keach, theatrical trailer picture gallery and trailers for other vipco discs. Avoid the later Vipco disc as it only offers the full frame version.
