Most Helpful Customer Reviews

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Peter Durward Harris #1 HALL OF FAMETOP 10 REVIEWER on 14 Jun 2013
Format: Audio CD
Flatt and Scruggs had big successes in the sixties with themes from the TV series Beverly Hillbillies (Ballad of Jed Clempett) and the move Bonnie and Clyde (Foggy mountain breakdown). This collection focuses on the music they recorded between 1948 and 1953, for Mercury and Columbia, including Don't get above your raising, which Ricky Skaggs revived in the eighties. There is also a 1950 recording of Foggy mountain top, but I'm not sure if this version was used as the movie theme.

With 40 tracks, this certainly represents value for money at its UK price. If you enjoy bluegrass music with plenty of banjo, and haven't got any Flatt and Scruggs (at least from the period covered), you should enjoy this.
