Editorial Reviews

"... few guides have been published about how to mat, mount, and frame inkjet prints for display in an exhibition or gallery. Many of the mounting, framing, and marketing tips featured in the book will be well-known to photography pros who have been selling their work for a long time.

… I found this book to be no-nonsense and easy to understand. There's a ton of information packed in here. Things I would have never considered when trying to get into the "business" of selling my photography...

Get Started!

The author spent thousands of dollars getting started selling his work in a few venues. Unfortunately, most of that amount was wasted because at the time he didn't understand the business. He invested in the wrong frames, mats, glass, etc. Like Murphy's Law, everything that could go wrong, did - in spite of his research. To his frustration, he was unable to find the answers to some fairly basic questions, and made rookie mistakes: buying poor quality materials, and paying someone to do the work he could have done himself, (if he'd only known how). He wrote this book to chronicle his experience for others who'd like to get their images out into the marketplace, generating income. It will quickly and easily pay for itself - and if, for any reason, you are not satisfied, he'll refund your money, no questions asked.

4.0 out of 5 stars good info 8 Aug 2013

Quick, no nonsense info regarding the confusing business of making and selling art prints. Playing the guessing game of what works and what doesn't is no fun and costs lots of time and money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent advice and tips!! 7 Mar 2013

Thank you for this book! I bought this in hard-copy last year and just came across it here on Amazon. I thought I'd write my thanks. I am an amateur photographer who has been shooting for a few years. I have come to simply love photography and about two years ago I started donating framed photographs to nonprofits for their silent auctions. They always sold well and I received great feedback, which inspired me to do more donations because it was so fun to see someone, or several "someones", bid on the art. So, recently I had a conversation with a friend who owns a very busy community coffee house. He invited me to show my photographs- a real exhibit! I was so excited, and a nervous wreck all at once. I talked to a portrait photographer colleague about the best ways to frame, etc. He sent me to a framer in town who he thought would be helpful. Long story short - I hated what the framer was trying to convince me to do. Just did not feel right, and it was really expensive. So, I sat down at my computer and Googled "how to frame photographs for exhibit" and your book came up. I immediately downloaded it and I must say it was the best $17.95 I have ever spent! Thank you for all the practical advice and links to resources. I had 16 photos to mat and frame, and your advice saved me lots of money and frustration. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!

My show was up for three months, and I sold 5 pieces. I had made arrangements to donate half of the net proceeds to a local charity, and so the coffee house waived their fees. They got nice publicity, the charity gets a little money, and I had the most wonderful experience of having my first photography show.

Thank you so very much ~
5.0 out of 5 stars great "how to" book 6 Jan 2014

I just finished this book and loved it! It is to the point and easy to understand. I loved the way that the author spoke exactly on what to do. I also really appreciated his "go to" references. I would highly recommend this for beginning level photographers who want to take the next step!
3.0 out of 5 stars Well written. Could have used more material. 9 Dec 2013

Book was a little more simplistic than I had anticipated. Nothing to argue about substantively, but it kept leaving me wanting a little more in each topic area,
5.0 out of 5 stars Great little book with lots of info! 9 Sep 2013
By EML - Published on Amazon.com

A friend got me this book as a gift, (hardcopy), and I've since found it very useful! I am in a similar situation as the author was when he first found there was interest in his photography; I was thrilled, but had no idea where to begin! What sizes were "standard"? What was the markup, after costs? Where do you get supplies at a reasonable price? Etcetera. I did find information on the Internet, but bits here and there and really nothing that was anywhere close to as straightforward and all-encompassing as this little gem of a resource guide. I found the information 99% up to date, with only one link to an online store that no longer exsits, (but it did have a suggestion from that link for another equally good site). And I like a lot of his marketing suggestions and warnings about where to "hang" and where to avoid hanging. All in all, certainly very, very, well worth the money for either the hardback or the Kindle version. I highly recommend this book if you're looking to start selling your "work". It's an exciting thing to do!
