Product Description

Product Description

"Moulin Rouge" is a celebration of truth, beauty, freedom but above all things love. Set in the infamous, gaudy and glamorous Paris nightclub, circa 1900, director Baz Luhrmann ("Strictly Ballroom", "William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet") brings together period design and modern-era pop tunes to create a comic/tragic motion picture experience. Nicole Kidman portrays Satine, the Sparkling Diamond, star of the Moulin Rouge and the city's most famous courtesan. Satine is caught between the love of a young writer and another man's obsession. Ewan McGregor is the writer, Christian, who finds himself plunged into this decadent world where anything goes - except falling in love.

As my title indicates, this is indeed an excellent book to have if you (like me) adored the film, and want a souvenir of it. It is full of glossy pictures that capture the splendour, colour and vivacity of the film, but is quite short on actual detail. What is there is informative and interesting, just don't be expecting a lot of text. Overall, well worth a buy if you loved 'Moulin Rouge!'.

Well, the film was most certinaly Spectacular, but what about the book? Filled with glossy photo's, taken from both behind the scenes and in the film, helps you to see what you might not have caught while watching the movie, and to understand how certain things were done. With special pages dedicated to Nicole Kidman (Satine) and Ewan McGregor (Christian), pictures of dance scenes, the REAL Moulin Rouge and more, there's something for everyone.
The text in the book is minimal, but includes a diary of shooting and script writing, and reasons why filming was postponed for a total of 3 months after the script was written (For several different reasons). Tells you about the individual scenes that took 6 months to assemble, were used for 3 days and destroyed in under 24 hours.
An enjoyable book for every Moulin Rouge fan.

This book is brilliant it is full of pictures from the film, backstage, cast and crew. The book tells you a little bit about the Moulin Rouge, the music, the making of and the story. The only thing that I would mark it down on is the fact that there is not a lot of writing but, that is no reason not to buy this book, plus the pictures are exellent. If I was only allowed to buy or read one book it would be this because it is a great read and also it has a lot of pictures of Ewan McGregor in it (I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!). I hope this review helped you and thank tou for reading it.
