I chose to have this phone when I took out a contract with O2 6 months ago. I did my homework & read many reviews, plenty of which were quite negative about this phone but I managed to ignore them all...after all this phone is an icon! Its black & its beautiful..it really is! Its an engineering masterpiece..a must have item!
Its easy to overlook the weak elements of this phone purely on the merit of its looks but that doesnt last long. The first thing that surprised me when I opened the box was the sheer size of the thing, yes its Razor thin but only for the same reason a pancake is, because its spread out sideways! I have relatively large hands but even I find it feels awkward & unbalanced (a shovel comes to mind). But it does look the part. Its very angular..masculine but not sexy except for maybe the keypad.
Anyway to the nitty gritty. This phone disappoints big style. I text/email mostly & often but since having this phone I hardly use it. I first noticed the 'text use' problem when I was setting up the email client. The input is the same & so difficult to fathom that I had to contact O2 for help (a first) but the keypad is responsive if a little delicate. The keypad is very flat & looks gorgeous but difficult to distinguish between functions so its unfortunatly very easy to accidently knock the cancel button which wipes everything!
I live in the sticks & have always had reception problems but have managed to get by with my usual choice of Nokia phones but the V3 just didnt wanna know, even if it is the same size as a satalite dish! I now have to balance it on one particular window sill in a room I hardly use to get just one bar.
As I said earlier I also email often & in my emails I like to send photos. This is my next gripe, the camera is pure tat. I dont expect alot but I sort of thought it would be of a similar quality to the VGA camera on my Nokia..but no..very pixelated & grainy.
So I stopped sending photos and as the text input is so naff it wasnt worth the effort of sending an email for its own sake. So thats very poor reception, less texts & less emails..and they call this a communications device!!!
Another important issue for me is battery life. I hate having to worry about running out of juice & at first I was pleasantly surprised. For the first couple of months it would last for 2, even 3 days but then I wasnt using it very often but now I have to plug it in every night..and even then it wont last the day if I pluck up enough courage to send a few texts.
Finally I have have to say that the running system does not live up to the image either. Fairly user unfriendly with a cheap looking interface.
In conclusion I would say that if you are looking for a fashion accessory..well you have missed the boat as this phone has been long superceded.
I have my replacement on order and as for the the V3?...Im sure I can find a use for it in the garden!

I can't believe the previous review of this item, I would object to every point made, It's the best most sylish neat phone you can buy, if you go for the smaller K1, you are going to lose the big display, one of it's best points. I'm actively trying to stockpile several of these phones so I'll be able to use them when discontinued, it's that good. Battery life and reception are fine, I don't know what the other reviewer is on about. Highly recommended!!!

I hate it, I've always had Nokias and my last handset fell apart and was replaced with this one by Vodafone - I had no choice. I've now had it for a month and still find it impossible to text, I hate the predictive text system, it is so cumbersome, am forever cancelling or aborting or sending unfinished texts by accident as the keys are difficult to use well, and the user guide is absolutely hopeless and doesn't tell you anything - I've had to figure most of it out myself by tial and error.

Also the reception is hopeless - I never had a problem getting a reception with my old phone but since this one have hardly managed to get one at home which means several attempts have to be made to send a text.

As soon as my contract runs out I'm heading off back to Nokia, never ever again will I have a Motorola.
