5.0 out of 5 stars Love it... hate it... but you can't ignore it!, 8 Aug 2005
By Mr. T. Walden "rampant-hamster" (Harrogate UK) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
Most people either love this phone... or they hate it. It is to this years mobile phone market what the Citroen DS was to 1960's car design... sleek, sexy, quirky and different!

Having shied away from Motorola's for all of my mobile phone owning life to date (based upon hearsay evidence of them being poor performers and "user unfriendly") it was not without some sense of intrepidation that I eventually upgraded my trusty Nokia 8910i for one of these. I can report back that, almost to my surprise, I'm thoroughly pleased with my choice!

First the bad points. The user interface isn't as simple as Nokia's or Sony Ericsson's for sure, and there seem to be a few "niggly" ommissions (like having to scroll through all of the address book to find a number rather than a "search" option, but luckily I don't seem to have that many friends... so I'll live with that. Secondly (although possibly not a bad point for some) I can state with confidence that it doesn't try to pack every "bell and whistle" into it's thin frame. If you want an FM radio, memory card slot, Video camera, Teasmade and oven timer included on a phone the size of your brain cell... then perhaps this isn't the phone for you.

However if you want a well made, attractive phone with enough extras to keep you occupied and (most importantly in my book)exceptional call clarity, then I would recommend this phone to you. The outer shell of the phone is anodised aluminium which feels great and (given that the phone is less than 14mm thick even when closed) is reassuringly robust. I love the keypad which is "etched" onto the face of the phone and glows a hypnotoc blue in the dark. At first it seems a little different to use (but then this phone is) but personally I prefer it now to traditional keypads, and it is leaps ahead of my old Nokia 8910i (which I found a little fiddly). But the "piece de resistance" of this phone is the call quality... I'm astounded... It really is superb, if you don't believe me try it for yourself. One last point (which clinched it for me), it comes with just about every accessory you could want included - usb cable, software, leather case, charger and (get this) even a "wiper" to clean your new purchase from greasy finger marks etc!!! If I've convinced you already and you're persuaded to get one they come in silver or black... for me the black wins every time, I think it looks really classy (mind you I chose the wife aswell!!!).

In summary you've probably guessed that I love this phone. It's not got every gadget known to man... but then if I want video camera I'll buy one!!! But what it does do is excel as a well built, great looking phone with outstanding performance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good phone, does the job., 2 May 2006
I got this phone simply because I had used my Nokia 6310 for far too long, and wanted something different.
Overall, it is a good phone, which does the job well enough.
I miss some of the Nokia features such as sending business cards (can't seem to find this anywhere in the Razr).
But more than made up in the Razr by having a speakerphone which is pretty good.
Battery life is alright, considering the large screen.
Only thing which could have been better is the Font used - in some cases it is really too large and ugly, and not in tune with the phone's cool design.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone, 14 Mar 2007

A great slim phone and such an improvement on the Siemens I previously had. The SMS is easy to use and the camera produces some reasonable images for the price. The phone even has a simple video capture facility although it's not great on quality.
The phone performs well on all the usualy facilities and is light and compact. Battery life was found to be good and the speaker phone worked very well in all but noisey backgrounds.

Great phone although could do with being a little cheaper.
