MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX

The longest talk time of any smartphone 1

  • Talk more than twice as long as the leading competitor’s smartphone1
  • Super fast, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
  • Super AMOLED Advanced 4.3-inch HD display
  • Smart Actions automates and optimises the everyday
  • Instant access to entertainment stored remotely on your computer2
  • Impossibly thin, made KEVLAR strong

Battery: Unstoppable Power

Top tech reviewers agree: MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX is packed with power. On one full charge, you can host a marathon 17 hr conference call – that’s twice as long as our leading competitor’s smartphone. Whip through the web for 7 hours straight. Get your movie fix with 15 uninterrupted hours of flick watching. Jam out all weekend. Yes, on one full charge, you can listen to music for two and half days straight.

Design: Serious Power, Seriously Thin

MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX isn’t changing the rules – it’s creating a whole new game, in a full-on assault to what’s possible. At 8.99 mm, it’s thinner than most smartphones and it packs more battery, too. Impossibly thin and a talk time twice as long as our competitor’s smartphone 1? The competition doesn’t stand a chance.

Construction: Unbeatable Strength

Seriously thin, MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX is the exact opposite of frail. It’s made strong with KEVLAR fiber, while Corning Gorilla Glass defends the screen against scratches and scrapes. Spilled coffee? Caught in the rain? No problem. MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX is protected with a water repellent coating – even the electrical boards inside.

Network Speed: Ferociously Fast

MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX makes ”Mach 10” seem slow. These speeds will have you rocketing through your everyday. Speed through your everyday, multi-tasking, web surfing and downloading thanks to a dual core processor and 1 GB RAM

Smart Actions: Unload Your Workload

MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX is ready to do your bidding. Always kill the ringer at work? Or tweak your Bluetooth settings at home? The Smart Actions app understands. It automates everyday tasks so you’re free to focus on other worldly pursuits. And even though MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX already has a super long talk time, you can push things even further with Smart Actions battery optimization settings.

MotoCast: Unlimited Access To Files Stored Remotely On Your Computer 2

The free MotoCast app from Motorola lets you stream your music, pics and docs from your home or work computers – virtually anytime, anywhere – so your content is always within reach. No uploading to a third party means no wasted time, and everything stays protected, right on your computer.

Security: Your Secrets Are Safe

MOTOROLA RAZR MAXX may know a lot about you, but it also knows how to keep a secret, featuring business-ready security that would make any IT manager proud. Government-grade encryption protects your email, contacts and calendar, so you can feel secure knowing your data – and your company’s data – is secure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I was looking for 7 Jun 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Let's face it, a few months down the line everybody is going to have an S3 or iphone 5 in their hands. I don't care because everything that I want from my phone is in this one. I prefer android and like Motorola's UI better than Samsung and HTC. I also don't mind trading off such aesthetics as camera quality and siri (or whatever they call it) for a better battery and call quality which should be the first thing you look for in a phone in the first place. It's fast and I still can't seem to find a way to drain the battery completely in a full day of heavy usage.
The only problem I feel like I will have with this phone is not getting as many choices of accessories and service from Motorola in case I needed it. I really hope that with Google acquiring the company we will see phones like the Razr Maxx get the respect that it deserves and see it in a Google/Motorola type store in the near future like the Apple Store or Samsung. It's a shame that it is being overlooked in the UK because it is definitely worthy of a serious look in a pretty competitive market with plenty of different options to choose from.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Impressive Smartphone 27 Jun 2012
By David
Amazon Verified Purchase
Purchase the Motorola RAZR MAXX without hesitation if you no longer wish to ration your smartphone use, for fear of depleting the battery. This device does everything you would expect a smartphone to do, and rather well at that.

I have awarded the Motorola RAZR MAXX four stars instead of five, because yes -- it would be nice if it had the most powerful processor, the highest definition camera, and the highest resolution display of all the smartphones on the market -- but it doesn't. However, that is not to say that this device does not perform impressively in each of those areas -- it does.

I'm sure those of you reading this review can easily imagine why it is good to have a long-life battery on a smartphone. But just so that you are clear about how good the battery inside the Motorola RAZR MAXX is, I will state the only time -- in the over three weeks that I have owned it -- where I came close to running out of battery: in one charge I used the Google Maps Navigation app for six hours (three hours each way), did one hour of web browsing, spent a half-hour playing Temple Run, made phone calls and sent texts -- all of this while background apps were running, and while 'use wireless networks' and 'use GPS satellites' were set to yes. When I got home after over eighteen hours without a charge, it still had ten per cent of its battery life remaining.

I find the Motorola RAZR MAXX both visually pleasing and ergonomically designed. If I can state anything of value on this matter, it is that this device looks better in real-life in comparison to the way it looks in photographs. My only word of caution would be that, if you have smaller than average hands, you might have some trouble with the size of the handset.

I would recommend the Motorola RAZR MAXX to anybody who values practicality, and does not require their smartphone to have the very best features on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars After 3 months - better than I could hope for 21 Jun 2012
By Scott

I've had this phone for a week (update - 3 months) now and it's everything I hoped for. Battery life IS fantastic, but being realistic, as a heavy corporate user, I haven't been able to get two days from a charge. But charging once a day is a MASSIVE improvement over my old phone (HTC Desire) - I would be at 30% after lunch.

Other benefits.
. Really good reception. I live in a poor reception area, my HTC and my Wife's iphone struggle for signal. The Razr, is a marked improvement.
. This is also true for bluetooth reception.
. I was really shocked at how impressive high end games (GTA 3) are when run on the phone (I now have enough battery life to actually play games).
. 'Smart actions' is a very user friendly way to configure your phone so that it suits your needs (e.g. When connected to my car's bluetooth, the phone automatically kills the wifi and enables GPS).

I had been scared (no longer) to buy this phone due to the reports of cracked screens in the USA (having said that, only on one site). I've decided that battery life means it's worth taking the risk. I'll report back in a couple of months and award 5 stars if all is well.
Like me, if you're in doubt, spend £60 on insurance.

Overall, what's the point in having a smartphone if you can't use it ? The Razr Maxx has fully resolved that issue.

Update - I've now had this phone for 3 months and am just as impressed as ever. The recent Ice Cream Sandwich update is welcome, but hasn't made much difference to my appreciation of the phone. Some longer term findings :-

1. I don't even charge the phone when I use GPS. I use GPS a lot and I've really got out of the habit of having the phone on charge for anything up to 3 hours on GPS (by which time it's still on well over half charge). That's hugely impressive.

2. I can't tell which way up the phone is. The phone is almost completely symmetrical and I always try and use it upside down.

3. I think this is an issue with some work software I run on my phone, but occasionally the phone gets very hot and battery life is awful. I'm sure it's an issue with a process hanging, but I think it's software from my company that's causing the issue (a reboot every now and then sorts it).

4. DON'T worry about the cracked screen thingy (on some us sites). I've had no hints of an issue and have dropped it (gently) enough to know the issue does not affect my phone.

5. The screen is still completely free from marks and looks brand new - I don't use a cover or screen protectors.

Other phones are faster, but if you can't use 'em, what's the point ??
