Better Than Jawbone 23 Jan 2008
By Brian T. Nakamoto - Published on Amazon.com
The Motorola MOTOPURE H12 blows away the Aliph Jawbone Noise Shield Bluetooth Headset- Black in terms of call fidelity, functionality, and size. It addresses all but one gripe with the Jawbone, and features a couple of bonuses. Like the Jawbone, the H12 uses a proprietary interface between its cool magnetic docking station and not-so-cool travel capsule despite using a micro USB interface on each accessory. The H12 would be perfect if Motorola had included a built-in micro USB port directly on the headset ala the mini USB port on the Oakley Bluetooth Module (also manufactured by Motorola). It's easy to move beyond this issue because the H12 gets everything else right compared to the Jawbone.

The H12's call fidelity is excellent. Calls come through loud and clear connected via Bluetooth to the same Treo. The talk button is solid and easy to use. The H12 features a power switch! No more accidental pants pocket turn-ons although the rubber ear cushion slips off if it gets caught coming out of the pocket. Like the Oakley Bluetooth Module, there are two clear and distinct volume control buttons for increasing and decreasing the volume. The H12's LED status light is subtle so as not to be distracting at night.

Extra kudos to the H12 include a thin yet comfortable ear loop design that works with the temple piece of the Oakley SQUARE WIRE. The H12 is also smaller and lighter than the Jawbone. The former weighs only 12 grams while the latter weighs in at a full ounce (28.35 grams). Overall, the MOTOPURE H12 is a clear winner versus the Jawbone, IMHO.

More comparisons? 1 Feb 2008
By James E. Shaltes - Published on Amazon.com
I like the design of the product! The desktop charging station and travel case work perfectly for me. I feel comfortable cramming it in my pants pockets because the case is sturdy! The noise-cancel techno whatsit seems to work alright. I have nothing to compare it to. There does seem to be static, though. I can't tell if it is because of the combination between my phone and the headset or what. I use a Sony Ericsson z525 cell phone. I tried to use it in the car with the stereo on and I think it cut my voice out as noise, well at least it made it very faint to the other caller.

Very comfortable! The earbuds seem to come off more easily than I'd like, but it fits great! I was worried because of the strange looking plastic hook. I haven't tried using it, but it has a shirt clip, too. It pairs with my phone effortlessly.

I even tried to pair it with my Laptop to use it for voice recognition! I think that the noise-cancellation only works when its used with a phone or some specific pairing. I recorded the voice and it was a bit staticky and did not cut noise hardly any I noticed. It worked passably as a headset for the voice recognition. I was really hoping that the noise-cancellation stuff would help with that, but it doesn't seem to. Doesn't change much, though. Had to have a quiet background before, and still do. Oh well.

Worth the $120 I paid.

No where close to a Jawbone 22 Feb 2008
By Stuart H. Crockett - Published on Amazon.com
I've had a Jawbone since they first came out. For the last few months I've had problems getting a good connection between the Jawbone and the charger. I now can't get it to charge at all. Two days ago I went to the ATT store looking for a replacement. I liked the small size of the H12, and it was easier to put on my ear that the Jawbone. I also liked the magnetic coupling to the charger of the H12. (I attribute my charger connection problems with the Jawbone to the tight fit and resulting difficulty in removal.)

BUT the bottom line on any Bluetooth device is how well both parties can hear. This is where the H12 fails miserably. Every person that I talked to today said that I sounded like I was in a well. Tomorrow I am going back to the ATT store to exchange the H12 for another Jawbone.
