This is a good value product. But as I said, its a "value" product. The base unit is wired (needs a power connector - supplied), the remote unit is wireless (battery powered). The battery longevity for the remote (parent) unit is average. The volume on parent unit is good enough, you have to be attentive, but good enough.
Areas of improvement :
- Base unit (baby unit) could be wireless, so your baby could sleep "away" from a power socket
- Battery life could be better (Li-polymer anyone ?)
- Volume on the remote unit (parent unit) could be louder

I bought this after trying the Motorola MBP8 which worked intermittently, so I returned it. Unfortunately, this MBP11 also only worked intermittently. The no-connection warning did not go off, but it was not transmitting sounds from the baby unit to the parent unit about 25% of the time. Also the parent unit sometimes did not charge at all, and I had to just keep trying over and again to plug it in. I returned this item to Amazon and bought a LeapFrog one (through Amazon) which I am perfectly happy with. Amazon customer service was excellent regarding the faulty products.

This was purchased on price and this is not always the best way! It was purchased to monitor a sick elderly lady who sleeps most of the time and it was hoped it would allow her husband time to tend his garden as a break from close attendance. It worked ok in the bungalow but is not effective outdoors, even though the garden is quite small. In view of this I think a more expensive unit might have been the better option.
