Don't miss a blink, word, smile, or step

Be there from anywhere

If you have ever been away from home and wanted more than a text message from the babysitter to assure you that your baby is sleeping soundly, then the Motorola Blink1 should be on your wishlist. Whether you are a parent on a night out, one who travels away with work, or a doting grandparent who just wants to check in, the Motorola Blink1 allows you to watch the little one sleeping from your phone, tablet, or laptop, wherever you are in the world.

Be there at any time

Connect up to four registered devices to the camera – mum's Android smartphone, sister's iPhone, dad's tablet, grandma's laptop – and always feel safe in the knowledge that those who care for your little one the most can check in at any time.

The Motorola Blink1 being used in a baby
With the Blink1, you can capture and save important moments in your baby's development.

It's the baby monitor for you

You can be confident that the secure 'monitor everywhere' server only allows those devices and users that you have connected to have access to the camera; you are able to register up to four password-protected users and Android and Apple smart devices to each camera. No unsolicited persons will be able to tune in.

Room temperature monitor

The Motorola Blink1 is equipped with a room temperature sensor which will show up on the receiver's display, meaning you can ensure that it never gets too hot or too cold for your little one.

Be there even when you can't be
The Blink1 and app for smart devices
The Blink1 camera can be panned, tilted, and zoomed remotely using the included app for wireless devices. view larger
The virtual network system for the Blink1
Up to four devices are able to be linked to your Blink1 camera; access is securely blocked from all other devices. view larger

Use the controls on the app to pan, tilt, and zoom the camera, whether you want the best possible view whilst your baby wriggles in their sleep or for those all-important moments in your baby's development. Their first word, their first smile, their first step – be there even when you can't be.

Be there to read a bedtime story

The Blink1 also boasts a two-way communication function so that you can read a story to your child when away from home, and see and speak with your child wherever you are. It can also be used as a handy intercom, allowing you to talk to your partner while rocking your baby to sleep.

The monitor that does everything for you

Use the controls on the app to capture unforgettable moments with the image snapshot and video recording functions. Capture special moments like their first smile, first step, or first word, and store them on an SD memory card with ease for safe keeping.

Monitor your baby in the dark

The Motorola Blink1 is equipped with infrared technology, which means you can stay in touch with what is going on in your baby's room without having to switch on any lights, thus ensuring their sleep remains undisturbed.

Lullabies should do the trick

Lull your baby to sleep with the available set of polyphonic lullabies.

NOTE: YOU CANNOT SET THIS UP WITH A PC! You must use either an Android or IOS device (via a free App) to set this up, and you may need to turn your WiFi off or get a little further away from it to do the initial set-up before turning it back on to register the unit. The newer silver trimmed units are less sensitive to this issue.

Picture quality is either 320x240 or 640x480 which although common for older webcams is now poor for this price point. Low light level image quality has improved with the latest (silver) version, but early (grey) ones are dreadful. Access via the web is through a server which was in the Far East and access was sometimes difficult (capacity issues?) but when it works it's just fine. If you have port forwarding on then that can stop external video streaming despite the manufacturers assurances that the unit can dynamically assign ports as long it is connected to a UPNP router (mine is and doesn't work over the web). The manufacturer will not release any port information so getting around this is not possible.

All in all it's a good bit of kit. You can have up to four cameras running and if you give Grandparents etc the passwords etc they can see your little one too. Just remember the camera works day & night, so watch where you position it! It records sound, takes (poor) inages, allows two way comms, plays lullabies from an on board list and shows temp on screen. There is a noticeable delay between live sound and it coming from the app.

Mar 2014 Update: there now definitely seem to be two versions of this camera on the market, but telling which one you are being offered is difficult. When it turns up you will find the versions are very easy to identify.

this is a great idea that went all wrong in so many aspects

Pros: you can watch wirelessly when available. speaking through is pretty smart and playing lullabuys, can have on more than one device at a time, great temperature gauge.

Cons: constant disconnecting, can only setup from a device not pc, instructions are poor i found out how to setup through a blog site, picture is really poor quality when boasting of quality in dark/light.

all round if the price was lower i would of expected these problems but from the price and manufacturers with such a big name you would've expected a better quality product.

So, I've had three of these now with varying issues. The last one was ok until I moved it from the changing table on top of the cot to a shelf about 1 meter from the baby. The image quality was so poor we couldn't see him. We have ended up buying a fosbaby with is hd and therefore has a much better image.

We used the camera for six months now. It is ok by itself, but the problem is the "monitor everywhere" feature. For all I can tell, the camera constantly streams to the external monitoreverywhere.com site, regardless of whether you are actually looking at it or not.
In our case, we have a Sky broadband and as a result our network is practically dead as long as the camera is on.
Since we never really use the monitoreverywhere feature it is therefore pretty annoying.

As I work away from home I wanted something to be able see our little one. This camera is really good and the security around accessing it across the internet (from my smartphone) is very good. Night vision is really good. Works best when you use wifi when its available but still a good picture via 3g (but slower refresh rates).

It works well and the picture quality is good.
Recommend for baby's with mobility that don't sleep on the same room.
