I purchased this item as I was given a vhs-c cassette taken at our silver wedding anniversary some 19 years ago. I don't therefore anticipate it will get much use, just to play the cassette and transfer it to dvd. I have played it. It works, so I have no complaints. I did not see the point in spending twice the amount on a different model. Good value for money.

The converter plays VHS-C perfectly, even if it is a little mechanical to use (be violent with it, it helps). Also doesn't need batteries which is good, the one that it was replacing was murdered by leaking battery acid, what can you do. So yes, I'd recommend it.

A couple of reviews mention the clunky stiffness of this item, I would advise against too much force. The first time i tried to load a tape, a very small (but apparently essential) piece of plastic broke off! Anyway, i managed to 'fix' it. Fortunately i only have one vhs-c tape, so it's staying in there! If you have a whole collection to watch/transfer, i recommend spending a bit more on a better model.

Not for Hi 8 cassesttes
This adaptor does not work with an Hi8 cassette, but the customer services were excellent and I was given a full refund with no problems.

Simple and effective
Simple and effective. The mechanism is a bit stiff but it does work and means that you do not need a battery to run it like most of these adpaters. Read more

why batteries?!?
used to watch an old birthday film. did the job. requires one AA battery. unlikely to use this ever again in this age of tehnology!

Copy to new generation format
Once I found a good vhs video I have managed to put everything on DVD.. No loss of quality either. Great piece of kit.
