I saw these guys supporting the Young Knives, and was impressed by their chaotic live performance. Instruments everywhere, the guy on the piano dropping this and picking up his trumpet, another guy picking up a spare drum for a song or two. Which just about sums up their sound really. It's chaotic, hard to pin down, messy almost. And maybe not to everyone's taste. But I like it.
This is a cheeky little song, deliberately childish lyrics, haunting brass, pub piano, indie vocals. It really is a bit like the Zutons, but stranger, if that's possible. It's catchy enough though, and should get your toe tapping.
Note the cover of Fade to Black comes with this, which is a worthwhile remake in my opinion. All in all, a decent introduction to a band who don't really sound like anyone else. And well worth seeing live if you get the chance.
