5.0 out of 5 stars At last another GREAT Xbox game: MotoGP! 28 May 2002
I bought MotoGP on Friday after playing a demo version to death and it's the best pure racing game on the X box right now. The controls are superb and the bike's handle like a dream and the sense of speed is excellent especially when the backgrounds blur! Whooosh! The game makes fantastic use of the Xbox hardware with bump mapping, realistic lighting, detailed textures and anti-aliasing (no jaggies here!). The rain effects are amazing and have to be seen, to be believed. It supports wide screen too. The game is very addictive and the multiplayer modes are great especially when you consider that you can race against 19 other Artificial Intelligence bikes! Namco's MotoGP games on other platforms only supported 2 human players and no CPU opposition! Eat that! The difficulty is just right too, easy for beginners on Rookie but move it up a notch to Pro and you've a real challenge on your hands. The way you earn points to increase your bike's stats in both the GP mode and training mode is inspired and really adds depth to the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy! 16 Jan 2003
A truely awesome game!
The graphics are very smooth with no judder or faults.
The high speed distortion is great and gives you a real feeling of travelling at speed.
Although difficult to start with the handling of the bike is exceptional and is very rewarding as you learn to control it through the corners.
No other racing game gives you the same satisfaction as this does when you get a corner just right and speed through and past other riders, cutting seconds of your previous times.
If you want to race against other people then you can with multiplayer options, or the ultimate by going online with XBox Live.
A game I would definately recommend buying and persevere with untill you master.
If you like to compete then you need this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Xbox roars into first place 2 Jun 2002
By A Customer
The xbox must now be the console of choice for any racing games fan. After PGR and Rallisport Challenge, This latest bike racer oozes class and is breathtaking to behold - A blistering frame rate throughout (even with 19 other bikes on the grid) and all the lense flare and bump mapping you can shake a stick at: even the rain drops have reflections in them !
Controls are very responsive, you have independent control of front and rear brakes, and can lean the rider forward / backward to pull off wheelies and stoppies. Burnouts and power slides are also easily achieved through a combination of throttle and front or rear braking.
Unlike other bike games you can always recover from a mis-timed corner and claw your way back up the pack (at least on the easier difficulty levels), so don't be put off if Bike games are not usually your thing : If you like racing games you'll have a lot of fun with Moto GP.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is fantastic!! 28 May 2002
By Dan
Before I get into explaining why this game is so good, I feel I should settle a common misunderstanding. This is NOT the same game as MotoGP on the playstation2. It is made by a completely different company. It just happens to have a very similar name and the official MotoGP license. This game is infinitely better than Namco's MotoGP on the Playstation2, and this is why...
Firstly, the graphics are superb! Thanks to the game only coming out on the XBox and PC, it makes use of the XBox's power to create some amazing visuals. The textures are amazing, and bump mapping is used to make the ground surface look really realistic. The speed is fantastic, and there is a cool blurring effect as you get faster and faster... This may not sound that good, but believe me, it adds a lot to the excitement of a race. By far the most impressive aspect of the graphics are the effects in the rain. It'll knock you for six when you start your first wet race. The biker animation is great too.
The sound is not bad. The sound effects are good, and it the game makes good use of the surround sound capabilities of the XBox. The music isn't great though, but the game lets you listen to your own music. So this flaw doesn't bother me at all.
The best part of the game is its gameplay. After buying Motor Cycle games on both the PS2 and PC, I was a little worried that the gameplay would be poor like the previous efforts. Thankfully though, this game plays like a dream! It takes a bit of getting used to bikes after racing cars, but once you do, the handling is perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs up! 3 Aug 2004
If I were to describe this game in one word, it would be "fast"! As well as the excellent handling, graphics etc, this game makes you really feel like you're hurtling round Suzuka or wherever it is. Motorbike racing is boring to watch on TV but amazing to play in this game. Playing it in the first-person view is pretty scary!
The sequel, moto gp2, is out now, and although I've not played it it's probably better to go for that one (it's cheaper on this website for some reason), but even thenm I think this one is well worth picking up as I believe it's on the XBOX classics range now. 5 deserved stars!
