Sim free means you can use it in any network, not only for Vodafone

I think as long as it is not part of a contract, the phone should accept both sims.

SIM free means, you can use any mobile network sim to use your phone. It's not locked to a particular mobile operator.
simply insert the micro sim card into the phone and your number is still the same. If your old sim card is to large you can have it cut to the new size at any phone shop.
