I've never particulary been a Mcfly fan, and have avoided their albums and songs like the plague, not because they're really bad, just because I find their songs very soft and predictable. However, when I was watching MTV and Transylvania came on, and I was blown away. Transylvania is an amazing song, so different from their other stuff, it's very gothic, loud and unique. I went out to buy the single, but found the album was on offer and nearly the same price, so I bought it. Quite honestly I was expecting to hate it and have to skip through all the songs to get to Transylvania, but I was wrong. I've been listening to their album non stop for about a week now and it still isn't getting old.

1) We are the young - 8.5/10, This song is definetly not my favourite of the album, especially as the opening sounds very familiar, but it is very upbeat and gets you into the mood for the rest of the album. It has a good beat and features good group singing, although it seems a bit bland to me.

2) Star Girl - 9.5/10, when I heard this song on TV I hated it, but I love it now. The words are so teenagerish (if that's even a word) and I love it because of that. The tune is very addict and again i love the use of background singing. Only fault with this song in my opinion is the slow bit in the middle, it dampens the mood.

3) Please, Please - 9/10, I do like this song, it's also very addictive, but for some reason Tom's lisp when he says please really annoys me. Danny sounds great in this though and really sells the words. It'll have you bopping along in no time.

4)Sorry's not good enough - 10/10, I really like this song, because the lyrics are very true and are sung in a way that allows anyone to relate to them.

There aren't many boy bands that last these days. There's the occasional Westlife, but it's rare. Usually you have the A1 types who vow never to split up but do anyway, the Busteds who decide to move on to "better" things, and the Take Thats who decide to make a come-back years down the line.

Of course there is always McFly. The cheeky boy band with their scruffy clothes and ever changing haircuts. They just aren't interested in the money; they seem to live for the fans and the music.

With numerous number ones and two albums up their sleeves you might think they're about to "do a Busted" and split. However they have proved the world of music wrong with their new album `Motion in the Ocean', holding the smash hits `Star Girl', `Please Please' and their brand new single `Transylvania'.

By listening to the album it is obvious that McFly have come a long way since `Five Colours in her Hair'. Their interests and music have matured and their songs have deeper meanings. Of course there is the ever popular theme of wanting the girl and losing her to someone better, but songs such as `Home is Where the Heart Is' are a real eye opener and give an insight to how much the boys have grown up.

The opening song `We Are the Young' is a great song to introduce the album. It's upbeat rhythm and typical McFly lyrics give the song a "get stuffed" attitude and set us up for the other tracks.

The most interesting song on the album is `Transylvania', written by bassist Dougie Poynter. It talks about a love affair involving Anne Boleyn and although each line of lyrics doesn't follow on from the previous one, it tells a fantastic story. The ending is also brilliant.

Motion in the Ocean is a great album - probably McFly's best so far. This version of the album includes the new single "Baby's Coming Back" on it as well as a DVD of their concert at Wembley in 2006.

McFly's 3rd Album is quite possibly their best so far - if not just behind Room On The 3rd Floor. Motion In The Ocean see's them combine their last 2 albums in way. The Room On The 3rd Floor influence is obvious in songs like 'Star Girl' and 'Please, Please' - The Singles and possibly 'Friday Night' which is a highlight. But they write some beautiful ballads as well which are the main part of the album, basing on a Wonderland type approach. 'Bubble Wrap' I Think is the best song on the album and is a must hear track which probably won't be a single but should be. 'Little Joanna', 'Don't Stop Me Now' and the apparebtly upcoming single 'Sorrys Not Good Enough' are heavily piano based and all great ballads. But on this album McFly also take an edgier side and go slightly alternative. This is clear on 'Transylvania' which was on the Star Girl single and is great. They go rockier on 2 tracks being 'We Are The Young' - also on the Star Girl single, and 'Home Is Where The Heart Is' which is the song that was their World Cup Bid. Both tracks are fantastic. A bit of a different track on the album in some ways is 'Walk In The Sun' which is one of my favourites as it is Danny's chance to show off and he does it well with voice and acoustic guitar. The only other track i haven't covered yet is 'Lonely' which reminds you of their 2nd ever single 'Obviously' but with a slighly darker side but still is brilliant. The new track 'Babys Coming Back' - a cover of the old Jellyfish hit is a bit of a grower. It really grows and sticks in your head, probably why they have released this.
