Product Description

"Laugh-out-loud funny with a hapless heroine everyone can relate to, Mothers Ruined is a perfect summer read." - Kerry Barrett

Dottie is back, in her first full-length novel, and life couldn’t be more chaotic.

Husband Henry is hundreds of miles away in Scotland, drinking whisky on a work “jolly”, leaving heavily pregnant Dottie to move house to a quiet village, on her own with two young children. When Dottie goes into labour three weeks early it’s a race against time for Henry to make it back for the birth of his new daughter.

Once the proud parents are back at home with their new addition – who surprises everyone by being a boy and not the girl they were expecting – recently promoted Henry continues to travel up and down the country, leaving Dottie struggling to adjust to village life. The other villagers seem a little bit on the snotty side – although that could be because when Dottie first meets them she has dyed her children green. So when she accidentally hears her neighbours’ conversations over the baby monitor, she can’t help but use the information she hears in her quest to build new friendships.

But of course, we all know that earwigging doesn’t end well, and when Dottie discovers two of her neighbours are having an affair she’s horrified. Worse still, she soon finds out the locals are convinced she’s the one who’s doing the cheating. It’s up to Dottie to clear her name and expose the real cheat – in her signature haphazard way!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious & Real 26 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
You ever want to kill your other half? Do you ever bribe your children so you can have five minutes of peace (I Know I Do) we all do it, this is the life of a mother, and mothers ruined is basically a book about how we all are constantly trying our best and ending up with green kids and poop on your arm!

Your leading lady Dottie, well she is a hero, balancing motherhood, friendships, traitorous neighbors and getting that bathroom she has always wanted is her daily focus, but when her baby monitor becomes a keyhole into other peoples lives chaos descends and what happens is down right hilarious!
The supporting characters have a good solid background and only heighten your reading experience, Harry, Dotties Husband is endearing and the voice of reason when Dottie ends up in another crazy situation. Loving and her perfect match! He is a real gem!

Then you have the neighbours, the ones Dottie can hear thanks to the baby monitor, when she discovers two of the neighbours are having an affair and that someone has made out that she is the cheat she must find a way to clear her name and expose the real cheat.

From green kids to bitchy coffee mornings this charming comedy is a novel for all women who wake up at 4am look at their other half and plot their murder!
This is a simply hilarious! Full of scenes that make you giggle and think I've been there, Its a real treat! It has had some cracking reviews on amazon and I'm so glad I got to read it and spread the word! Some people tend to not read a lot of Self Published books but this book deserves a read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Witty and sensitive peep at motherhood. 15 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Survival Series has taken Dottie to places every mother will see on her journey into motherhood. Aimee has captured the moments we love to hate with wit, hilarity and a hint of hysteria as we watch Dottie on her quest to be accepted.
Mothers Ruined also explores the relationship between Dottie and her husband with sensitivity. If you're anything like me, you'll end up falling in love with him too.
Well done, Aimee!

Full of the humour and horror of being a Mum this book made me wonder why anyone ever has a family and stays sane and happy. But it also made me laugh, and made me want to read it as quickly as possible because I HAD to know what happened to the bitch across the road! Well done Aimee Horton - lovely lovely pressie for anyone but in particular for any Mum feeling they're the only Mum who can't cope.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant, relevant and left wanting more! 14 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book on the day it was published but for various reasons (two kids and no time!) I've only just got around to reading it. I was addicted from the start, my 4yo even had a couple of intense peppa pig sessions so i could read...I love it! So much I can relate to, especially the inquisitive (kind of embarrassing) personality! I love dottie and want to read more, so to the author...please write a sequel soon! x

Yet again another brilliant book from Aimee Horton. I wanted to finish this story of Dottie so much that I hid in the kitchen from kids!
I look forward to further books by this writer and hopefully one day she will revisit Dottie.
