At last, Oliver Wakemans long awaited new album! This is a prog
rock album with great vocals and lyrics, superb instrumentals.
"The Agent" refers to the seamier side of the music business.
The title track "Mother's Ruin" refers not to gin, but to the
demise of Mother Earth. Interesting and thought provoking, I find
new elements every time I listen to it. There is a long wait for this album, and it may be difficult to obtain in the record shops
as they unwilling to take the risk of something new and innovative. But order it folks! It is well worth the wait.
Having recorded a lot of excellent work and put in 10 years or
so hard graft, Oliver Wakeman could turn out to be one of those
"overnight" sensations with "Mother's Ruin" Personal favourite
tracks. "The Agent, "Don't Believe in Angels". "In the Movies"
and "If your Leaving" are gentler tracks, lovely vocals, subtle
instrumentals. Moon Kinniard has now left the band, but has been
replaced by by Paul Manzi, also excellent. This well crafted
album needs to be heard, and I hope it will get the audience it
deserves.
