Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Everybody's trying to tie in their fictions to the approach of the millennium: the next Bond movie, for instance. But it takes a writer as accomplished as Gadney to make this seem more than a meretricious gimmick. Gadney brings back Alan Rosslyn from the first- rate Just When We Are Safest for his millennial thriller. The plot has a satisfying murkiness, with revelations cutting through a net of violence and deceit involving the zealots of the Trinity Chapter religious cult, who are preparing for the resurrection of their leader in the first minute of the first hour of the first day of the Millennium. In the vicinity of King's Cross, the body of a young American researcher, Jane Moorfield, is found on some derelict wasteland. Did she die of a massive heroine overdose? Her sister Caroline doesn't think so and enlists Rosslyn (of the business intelligence consultancy ASG) to investigate. The sinister causes of Jane's death involve both the wealthy recruits of the cult and the British security services. Gadney has invoked the shade of John Buchan for his dizzying dash to a tense New Year's Eve finale in Trafalgar Square, but the mayhem is very much in today's style, and make an already compulsive read even more addictive. --Barry Forshaw, Amazon.co.uk --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

December 1999. London is poised on the brink of a new Millennium as the Trinity Chapter religious cult prepares for the Resurrection of its leader, Trinity the Divine, in the first minute of the first hour of the first day of the Millennium. On derelict wasteland near Kings Cross the body of a young American researcher, Jane Moorfield, is discovered. Her death shows all the signs of a massive heroin overdose, but her sister suspects otherwise.

As Alan Rosslyn (formerly of HM Customs and Excise, now working for the business intelligence consultancy ASG) helps Caroline Moorfield investigate the events surrounding her sister's death he uncovers a web of violence and deception involving the Trinity Chapter and its wealthy recruits which reaches right to the heart of the British security services. Even the upper echelons of the US government may be involved. No longer sure who he can trust, Rosslyn follows a horrific trail of brutal murders involving the Trinity Chapter's sinister caretaker Morgan Wroth from Cambridge to Geneva, forcing him to a terrifying conclusion: that the Trinity Chapter will let nothing - and no-one - prevent their leader's prophesy from being fulfilled.

Beware of the dog 20 Sep 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Triggered by the title that crosses the wires on some theological dogmas (Mother instead of Father) I bought this book on a cold and rainy day. Luckily I read it on a cold and rainy so I could keep up with the pace. Although complex at times (read the details too) a tale of terror evolves around a religious cult. The resurrection of the new Christ is expected on Trafalgar Square on Millenium Morning, bringing peace in this world - but only on his terms. One corps more or less...it's all for the good cause. The full notion of the scam opens itself like an artichoke: the leaves are good, but wait till you get to the bottom.
Violent at times...still a good spun tale where sometimes a little blood trickles out of the pages. Especially when a certain dog approaches...

An excellent read 7 Jan 2002

I picked this book up in a gite in France, and read it within 48 hours...I found the combination of espionage, politics interlinked with a somewhat different cult an interesting and engrossing one. I liked Alan Rosslyn as a character andI have since also read Achilles Heel (rather more shocking, and not for the faint hearted).

I bought this to take on holiday based on passage on the back and recommended sticker on the front. I wasn't dissapointed. It's easy to get into and holds the interest all the way. Well worth reading.
