After having just purchased "Magic Hour" by Cast, and being totally blown away by it, I got this and it's just what I'd hoped for: more of the same.
Bear in mind that both this album and "Magic Hour" are definite growers - you need to give them both a chance, but after the 2nd or 3rd listens I was truly amazed that this album isn't well known for being a real gem.
You've gotta feel sorry for John Power, in my opinion this album and "Magic Hour" are right up there in my top 20 fave albums ever and no-one hardly ever heard of them.

The songs themselves provide an amazing trip back into melodic britpop, minus Mr Gallacher's lazy singing and minus Mr Albarn's chirpy cockneyness. Gentle melodies, and chirpy guitars litter the majority of the songs.

Cast never got the praise they deserved in my opinion, so I implore you give this a chance (and Magic Hour aswell) and they won't let you down.

A real masterpiece.

A slight move away from their first album, Mother Nature Calls is a more mature, intelligent record. It has catchy 'singles' like She Sun Shines and Guiding Star in the All Change vein, but it is psychadelic avenue that Cast explored that really grab the ear. The enchantingly atmospheric Dance Of The Stars and simple I'm So Lonely capture the emotions and imagination; while Soul Tied and Mad Hatter show a new, exciting side of Cast, which forever unbound them from the dated Brit-pop shackles. In short this is a must-have album, which should have put Cast in the then-Oasis stratosphere.

This is a good CD by a band which don't get as much credit as they should. There are some very catchy tunes on here that will have you singing away to yourself after you first listen. These catchy tunes include, the brilliant song which is used for a lot of different adverts - guiding star -. Other classic tunes include the quite brilliant ballad - I'm so lonely - other stand out tunes include, free me, live the dream and she suns shine. Overall a good album let down by a few songs. 3/5
