Mostly Autumn are in my opinion the best new band for years. Although they are essentialy a progressive rock band with a celtic influence they have their own individual touch.
With excellent musicianship and Heather Findlay`s Superb vocals they are surely destined for future stardom and deservedly so. This DVD captures their recent performance at the Mean Fidler in all its glory, and in my view was the best concert I have seen in a very long time.

There's no doubt that Mostly Autumn are a superb prog rock band and this DVD is a fine recording of a live gig. The sound quality is good. The visual of the gig are also fine but for some reason the director occassionally puts in various video-type clips. While the rehearsal shots fit OK, the "prancing around in a field" shots really add very little and quite frankly I'd rather just watch the band playing live.
That said, overall this is a good buy. Main man Bryan Josh is a great songwriter and plays some great Floyd/Marillion-esque lead guitar (which would benefit from being slightly higher in the mix at times). Bass man Andy Smith looks like a refugee from a thrash metal band but does a fine job at providing the band with a solid foundation.
Special mention must also go to Heather Findlay who is simply stunning, both in terms of vocals and stage prescence. The fact that she also plays numerous other instrumenst throughout, as well as drawing the art for some of their album covers, makes her one very talented individual indeed.
From a performance perspective though, perhaps the biggest pleasure comes from seeing how the whole band gel together as a live unit. This is well played, tight stuff.
Highly recommended!

There couldn't be a better introduction to the band's catalogue than this stunning collection of tracks recorded in london in June 2001. 10 tracks representing the best of the bands recorded output so far it has great sound, stunning melodies and blistering guitar solos. Highlights are stage-favourites such as 'Evergreen', 'Heroes Never Die' and 'Shrinking Violets'. If you are a fan of good classic rock with a twist of Celtic music then you cannot fail to be enchanted by this CD - even better, get the entire concert plus extra goodies by buying the DVD edition. The only way is up for this band
