The formula is the same as always, but some of the apparent phenomena are the best ever... so why does Kieran not comment on them in his predictable, yet another variation on the same theme, summary? It must be difficult finding different words to say the same thing every week, so I thought he'd welcome some extra evidence and pounce on it.
It's a shame the show is canned, and I can't help but wonder if that would have happened had the team learned, after all these years, to stop screaming & swearing at the drop of a book or pebble... and yes, I'm no stranger to phenomena, so I do have a good idea of what it's like.
A a bit more professionalism and more equipment to check for measurable phenomena, including trigger objects with good camera coverage, would have gone a long way, including showing under the table when it's moving, as was done in earlier series.
That said, the 4 camera coverage, as on the Live shows, was a great idea, although there was almost no review of what they did or did not capture.
Some good mediums this series, but I still miss David Wells.

I bought the boxset for my mother who is a big fan of the show, and she loves it. In her oppinion, this is one of the better of the later series of the show. I must say that I do enjoy the show as well. Whether or not you believe in ghosts, you will find the show very entertaining (unless you are ignorant or don't have a sense of humour) as the reactions of some of the people on screen are at times very funny. Fans of the show will love it, and that's all that matters! Ignore the negative reviews, the show isn't made for those people!!

First of all, why cut 15 minutes off each episode? All this seems to do is make one or two parts of some episodes a little confusing, due to poor editing.

Some good, interesting, historical locations in this DVD, except for one - the grotesquely derelict Gaumont Cinema.

Lesley Smith has, thank god, stopped with the hammy, affected way of speaking to the camera and instead imparts some very interesting historical information. Ciaran O'Keefe appears to be a little less monosyllabic too during the walk rounds, and gets in the face of one of the Mediums (an american called Patrick), in the same way he used to with Derek Acorah, challenging him re some of his statements. Patrick is one of three mediums the team use and is the least convincing. In fact he sounds like he has just read the guidebook of the place, such is the knowledge he imparts. Billy Roberts is another medium that is used, and unfortunately anything he imparts during his stints at historical sites in the two Liverpool episodes can be looked at with skeptical eyes as he admits he has lived in Liverpool for some years and knows the history of the places they are in, already. Chris Conway is the other medium used and comes across as pleasant, but doesn't really come up with that much information. He has had a notorious falling out with the MH team now, so I doubt we'll see him again any time soon.

Karl and Stuart do their usual investigations together and separately with lots of 'paranormal' activity going on. Whether you believe its paranormal or not is up to you, but it is entertaining to watch drawers opening, doors banging shut, things being thrown by 'unseen' hands (ahem), chairs whizzing across the floor and a bed that looks like its moving and has someone getting on and off it.

Stuart really needs to drop the 'Im gettin' angrehhhh' persona during seances though, it's a bit old hat now. Also the one 'paranormal' noise heard during the Gaumont Cinema episode is completely ruined by Stuart. There is an odd noise for about five seconds, we the viewers hear it for about half a second, the rest is COMPLETELY drowned out by Stuart bellowing at the top of his voice, "Did you 'EAR THATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT???" You would think by now that the team would have calmed down after all these years of paranormal investigating.

The inclusion of Cath the make up lady in the team still puzzles me. Firstly she comes across on camera as being forced to be there, is constantly screeching her lungs out (EXTREMELY annoying), and basically investigates nothing and contributes nothing. Even Yvette, in one of the episodes, gets really irritated with her.

All in all the DVD is entertaining. Not as good as some of the old episodes, but not bad at all. The Edward Jenner Museum episode is probably the best, for historical interest and for an odd light anomaly that, for once, isn't a moth!
