Most Haunted's seventh season continues its tried and tested formula: take some psychics and a film crew to haunted locations and film the mayhem. After the departure of discredited ‘psychic’ Derek Acorah, it's down to Gordon Smith and Angus Purdey to step into his shoes; with David Wells, Richard Felix, Ciaran O'Keefe and the inimitable Yvette Fielding along for the ride.

Season 7 of Most Haunted visits the Castle Keep in Newcastle, Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire, Mains Hall near Blackpool, and the Granada Studios and Coronation Street sets. Everywhere they go, chill winds and ghostly orbs seem to follow, as centuries of murder and intrigue are uncovered (though usually nothing that can be corroborated by any historical records, though).

Most of the time, the camera misses the action, swinging around just in time to catch some ‘ghostly’ activity in creepy green night vision --and for most of the scares, it’s evident that they’re just caused by the camera crew messing about. Atmosphere is everything, though, and the overreactions of the presenters, together with the long complicated tales spun out by the psychics make for compulsive viewing. It’s even occasionally a bit scary, however much you know you should know better. -- Sarah Dobbs

Product Description

All 32 investigations from the seventh series of the popular television series in which a team of impartial investigators, led by Yvette Fielding, travel to notoriously haunted sites across the UK to investigate reported instances of paranormal activity. Investigations in this series are: Lower Southwood Cottage - a privately owned cottage in which the owners are plagued by apparitions, movements, orbs and ghostly animals; The Castle Keep in Newcastle, site of a castle since Roman times and not short of a vision or two; Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire where hooded figures, blue lights, tapping, being (meta)physically poked and even rumbling are the nightly norm for inhabitants; The Coronation Street set - is Elsie Tanner still enjoying a fag and a gin from beyond the grave, is Albert Tatlock's seat still warm in the snug?; The Old Churchhouse Inn in Devon where a huge man has been seen peering into the baby's crib and a vaporous bonneted lady once shushed the owner; Mains Hall at Poulton Le Flyde near Blackpool is no pleasure beach - a white lady is often seen in the same location, staring at a blank wall, children's voices are heard constantly and a gang of cavaliers is often seen in the bar as if merely enjoying a cup of frothing ale...

4.0 out of 5 stars Ooh...best aparition caught on camera so far 21 Feb 2007
By Paul M
I have to admit that as a fan of MH, and owner of several boxsets, I too thought that only six episodes was a bit of a swizz, but, the price is much less than buying all of series 6, so is not really that bad all things considered.

But if you are a MH fan, you've got to get this set for two reasons: 1) It has Gordon Smith in it, who is a stunningly good Psychic (watch the Extras for Gordon delivering a personal reading to Richard Felix, and see Richard's amazed reaction!), and 2) The best aparition caught on camera so far - at Mains Hall. It even has Karl shook up and reconsidering his personal spiritual beliefs. I paused this footage to look closer and could definitely see a spirit face of a young girl in the aparition.

Not to mention the easily audiable deep sighs and breaths that scare Stuart and Karl...I won't spoil it anymore for you!!!

Can't wait for series 8 to be released!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Haunted - Still scary and brilliant! 29 April 2007
Many Most Haunted fans stopped watching the show once leading professional ( I use that word, loosey!) spirit medium Derek Acorah left Most Haunted. Yet season 7 proves they didnt need him. This season has the same old crew, Yvette Fielding with David Wells and the new spirit medium Gordan Smith travel to different locations in order to find ghosts. Lets talk about the places:

Lower Southwood Cottages in Devon - Best moment is the kitchen séance during which Gordon is overcome with emotion and has to leave. As he does so, a sound is heard and a knife is found to have fallen at Yvette's feet!

Castle Keep in Tyne and Wear - Psychics Gordon Smith and David Wells, both identify a woman spirit either holding or handing out flowers. Many strange noises are heard, including a brass band, though no such group are in the area. After a vigil, the chairs used in this particular investigation have apparently shifted on their own. During a solo vigil in the Gallery Room, Karl's recitation of the Lord's Prayer is interrupted twice by loud bangs - Very freaky indeed!

Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire - During a vigil in the upstairs corridor, a stone is thrown across the room and captured on camera. Stuart attempts a solo vigil in this area, which leads to more stones being thrown and a number of audible sighs and groans caught on camera. When the rest of the crew join him, their equipment mysteriously drains of all power and an evil presence is felt around them.

Coronation Street, Lancashire - During Karl's investigation of the alleys behind the set, a barrel rolls out of the Rovers Return yard, though no one else is in the area!

3.0 out of 5 stars Watchable - with some good paranormal footage. 21 Feb 2007
I agree with the previous reviewer, there are only six episodes in this series, and it's in the normal Most Haunted format. I have watched two of the DVD's so far out of the three that come in the box set. However, with Derek having being exposed as a fraud, the new mediums that have replaced him (David Wells and Gordon Smith) make it more enjoyable and real, without all the "drama and acting" that Derek used to do when he was apparently seeing apparitions and being taken over by spirits. It's a good purchase, if you want a night in and there are some genuinely good scary bits in some of the footage that can not be explained - and seeing as MH has had a lot of bad press in recent years, this still makes interesting viewing.

Lower Southwood Cottage was the best episode ever especially when the knife was thrown at Yvette you've never heard such screams (unless like me you were there) and what was even spookier was that it was one of the 3 actual knives that were plunged into my knife board during one of the ghostly goings on in my house. I know that some people knock the show but after the team spent the day at my property they put to rest some nasty spirits that had been troubling my house for years. Well Done Most Haunted, you did exactly what you promised to do.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's truly a shame. 9 April 2007
I purchased the first 3 seasons with great anticipation, hoping somehow to see something paranormal however I have a few rants, so please just bear with me. Love David Wells, He appears truly sincere in his readings and many blessing for a special gift. I've had a few personal experiences that have made me a true believer in the fact that life does not end, but we like a butterfly leaving its cocoon behind, merely shed this suit of skin and return back to that warm loving place from which we started this journey called life.

Okay here goes. . .

MH cast are investigating these so called very haunted places all over the UK. these guys are supposed to be professionals. . .a little whisper or groan sends them into a screaming panic!!! 'Cmon people they've been in operation so many seasons and "No Paranormal Equipment, except for cameras turned on themselves...Ugh, I'm so tired of looking up their noses. Please, how about a digital EVP recorder set up in seperate rooms? How about a thermal-Imaging Digital Camera -- So they can record images of long-wavelength infrared radiation (i.e. heat), which is invisible to the human eye. This allows the capture of images in even total darkness, or through smoke or fog.

BUT NOPE No Dice, these guys use a seance. I'm not impressed by orbs, I want to see a full bodied apparition captured on camera, which I have seen with real paranormal Ghost Hunting episodes. Save your money, get the other Ghost Hunting Series episodes on DVD. You can actually hear the voices of what I think used to be people, and with the exception of one event, no one ever came out screaming almost knocking over a camera man!
