Format: Kindle Edition
In this second book we once again meet Jack Dryden and Lady Daphne Chalmers, this story picks up where the last ended. Jack and Daphne are getting married. On what was the happiest day of their lives, Jack is called away from the wedding breakfast to attend the Prince Regent urgently. Leaving Daphne to come up with a plausible excuse for his absence.

While Jack is in attendance to the Prince Regent. Daphne's sister Cornelia the duchess visits her. Cornelia was in trouble, the sort she could not allow her Duke to find out. Knowing her older sister Daphne was brilliant Cornelia hoped for her help. It seems that some love letters that Cornelia had written to another man, a Captain Styles had fallen into the wrong hands, and now Cornelia was being blackmailed.

Jack also has a secret mission. After cooling his heels for a number of days at Brighton,he eventually meets with the Prince and the Foriegn Secretary Lord Castlereagh. There was a very strong possibility that there was a traitor in the foreign office, and the officer who was returning from the peninsula with a list of names of high ranking British officials, who were suspects, is now dead and the list of names missing. So now they wanted Jack to investigate.

I would suggest that you read the first book With His Lady's Assistance (The Regent Mysteries) before this.
Daphne is looking forward to her wedding night with Jack, her Captain sublime. But the fates keep conspiring against her! What happens instead is a race to find the traitor, and her sister's blackmailer. As both cases seem mysteriously connected.
Once again Ms. Bolen gives us a humorous and romantic read filled with action and mystery.
I am grateful to the author for ARC.

Another Regent Mystery from Cheryl Bolen 2 Sept. 2012
By Kay Hudson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
In this second installment on Bolen's Regent Mysteries, Captain Jack Dryden receives another urgent summons to come to the aid of the Prince Regent--on Jack's wedding day. The call comes after the ceremony, but Jack and Lady Daphne find their wedding night postponed as he reports for duty.

With Jack caught up in the search for a missing list of British traitors, Daphne agrees to help her sister Cornelia, the Duchess of Lankersham, retrieve the passionate letters she unwisely wrote to a now-dead officer, which have fallen into the hands of a blackmailer.

As circumstances conspire to delay that longed-for wedding night, Daphne and Jack discover that their investigations are connected, and that their arch-enemy, the French spy d'Arblier, is involved.

Jack and Daphne's discreet inquiries are hampered by family misunderstandings, French spies who would prefer to see them both dead, and an eager but incompetent cook.

Will Jack find the missing papers before d'Arblier finds him? Will Daphne find a competent housekeeper before they starve? And will Daphne and Jack ever have their wedding night?

Read A Most Discreet Inquiry for the answers, and enjoy another adventure with the most charming of Regency detectives.

When These Two Team Up, Traitors Beware! 20 Sept. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
A MOST DISCRETE INQUIRY continues the story of the newly engaged and soon-to-be wed beloved couple of the bespeckled Lady Daphne and the "sublime" Captain Jack Dryden from the author's first book in this series, WITH HIS LADY'S ASSISTANCE. Readers are treated to the rare opportunity to continue to follow a hero and heroine through their first days of married life, which of course never go according to plan.

Lady Daphne is far from ordinary, so why should her married life be? On their way to the wedding breakfast, the new bride and groom are stopped by members of the Regent's guard and Captain Jack Dryden is whisked away to another top secret mission in the service of the Crown. Wellington himself has requested his help tracking down a list of traitors to the crown before it falls into French hands. There is never a day's rest for England's Greatest Spy. Does his sleuthing wife pine away awaiting his return? Hardly. She begins investigating a mystery of her own.

Daphne's duchess sister had been receiving blackmail demands from someone who threatened to expose her clandestine affair and secret love letters to a major recently killed in the Peninsula. Desperate to end the matter before her husband the duke found out, she runs to enlist the help of her clever older sister. Soon, however, the clever Daphne and her super spy husband begin to suspect that they are both looking for the same villain. When they team up, traitors should beware!

This story is a delight to read and is different from your typical novel of this genre. I would classify this one as 75% mystery and intrigue, 25% romance. It also has wonderful moments full of humor--a cook that can't cook, and a wedding night that is delayed more times than my Southwest Airlines flight home.

I can't wait for another installment in this series!

Cheryl Bolen writes exceptional stories full of carefully researched details and is just as adept at crafting a mystery as she is a beautiful, sweeping epic romance. She truly has written just about something for everyone and has a permanent spot on my keeper shelf. Once you read one of her novels, you will find you won't stop until you have downloaded her entire list!

Quick read with some characterization of interest 18 Mar. 2013
By Marie Colette Cousy - Published on Amazon.com

This is the toe of book I want to read while recovering from being sick, or at the start of a vacation. While it is a book I left behind after reading, it did entertain. The characters were written withnspecificmcharacteristics, albeit somewhat stereotyped and predictably, the heroine was not typical for the times. The author employed the usual formula for this type book successfully. I probably would not recommend unless this type of genre is what you always read.
