Product Description

Lord Trajan Randall is a rake and a whipster who holds women in contempt. The weaker sex may be all very well in the bedroom or the nursery, but beyond that Trajan has no use nor respect for them.

Which is why Lady Caroline decides to teach him a lesson. A lesson the dashingly handsome Lord Randall will never forget.

The Viscount does not believe in the "Petticoat Club", a legendary gang of women who take their revenge on rakes and noblemen like him.

But all that is about to change.

-- Highway robbery, abduction and wanton behaviour abound in this short sexy 15,000 word Regency novella from Elizabeth Moss.

This novel is written in standard UK English, not American English.

This is a Regency novella. If you are looking for a longer read, other Elizabeth Moss titles available on Kindle include the full-length Regency romances 'The Uncatchable Miss Faversham' and her bestselling 'The Earl and His Tiger'.

This is what known as a good, rollicking read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a new (to me) spin on Regency Romance. The characters are vivid and stand up well within the plot. The story revolves around a daring women's club The Petticoat Club that kidnaps rakes in order to teach them a lesson by robbing them of their clothes. There's a touch of sauciness woven in to the story when Lady Caroline Lacey kidnaps Viscount Randall, and complications ensue as we realise her motives are not just to teach the hardened rake a lesson. I would recommend this wholeheartedly for a light read - I loaded it ready for my holiday and it didn't disappoint. It's the first Elizabeth Moss book I've read, but I shall definitely be looking out for more.

Short, but okay 21 Sep 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Lord Trajan Randall insults 'The Petticoat club' in the hearing of Lady Caroline, one of its ring leaders. Lady Caroline has been in love with Trajan since (for a reason is never established) he courted her but didn't offer for her in her first season. Five years later she's a dowd. So she kidnaps him in order to 'punish' him.

This is a short story (even by novella standards), with only minimal plot and character development. What plot and character is there is okay, though a bit prone to lapse into cliche. It would be a good effort were it not for the fact that (small spoiler) she doesn't have the courage or the common sense to blind-fold him, make sure he's tied up properly, and go through with her plan to anonymously lose her v plates to him. And then she cries when he discovers who she is - get a backbone! She's only one degree less irritating than the typical regency heroine.
(spoiler end).

Overall, it's difficult to say much about this story because it's so short, everything is a spoiler. The characters are under-developed, but over-all it's a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. There aren't noticeable typos or anachronisms, and is reasonably well written.

Oh, btw, to say that it's red hot implies that it's almost erotica - it's not, it's got an okay love scene, but it's not oven gloves stuff.

- A note on the DRM for this book. Beware - you can only download this book once. If you archive it, you will have to pay for it again in order to un-archive it. I suspect, though I'm not sure, that if you have a second kindle device, you would have to pay again to read this book on that device. For me, that's a reason to steer clear of Thimblerig Press (the Publisher) in future.

I really enjoyed this story; the language, the characters. Caroline and Trajan are very engaging and more than a little hot. I'm a huge fan of Regency tales and Elizabeth Moss has captured the period to perfection. Looking forward to the next one.

Steamy Regency Romp 3 Oct 2011

An enjoyable, racy, romantic adventure. The idea of the Petticoat Club is intriguing, and Caroline and Trajan are colourful, appealing characters. The steamy encounters between the two add more than a touch of spice to this Regency tale. Caroline's cohorts seem a little on the soft side for their unusual pursuits but the hero and the heroine are both headstrong and passionate and this keeps the reader's interest. Will definitely read another of this author's books.
