This book is an excellent tool for those in similar circumstances and their families.
Stuart has presented the realities yet it is not a depressing read at all!! His humour and acceptance truly shine out and the curiosity in it all is what I think has kept him on the job of staying in the world. Pulls no punches either!about the treatment he received..... the good and the bad.Still work for you to do Stuart!! and what miracles will unfold, I am sure. Inspirational and the defining of a lovely man on a journey that few could do.

My hubby had a stroke 9 weeks ago and I wanted to get 'inside' info rather than all the info given to us by the medical/support people. I'm about two thirds of the way through it due to not reading it all in one go so I cannot give a review of the remainder that I have to read! I was finding it really interesting reading at first because it was dealing with aspects of his life in the early days of his stroke. It then went on to give details about life before his stroke which I continued to read even though I thought it not useful to me in our present situation. The part I'm now reading deals with his recovery and I'm finding it really interesting again.

If possible I'd like my hubby to speak to a stroke survivor rather than the experts/advisors who are in our lives now. I think that would give him more of an insight as to what he might expect in years to come (obviously not all stroke survivors recover in exactly the same way). I'm thinking of asking the Stroke Team if they could possibly arrange this, or at least make some enquiries to stroke survivors who had a stroke months/years ago.
