I bought this repellent for a 2 week camping holiday in Tanzania. It arrived quickly and I was pleased that it did not smell too awful. After wearing it away and getting very few bites (and these were mainly where i hadnt put the repellant and then changed clothes so were suddenly exposed) i think it is a very good product and certainly works. I used it every day mainly on my upper body as i covered up my legs and feet during the evenings and still had over half a bottle left after the 2 weeks so it lasts a long time. The only minor problem is that as all deet products it does melt plastic items and so care needs to be taken as my watch and the tent ground sheet both developed holes after contact with the product! I will certainly buy this again for my next trip needing repellent.

This is basically 100% DEET and therefore to be treated with care. It does not taste nice but then again is best kept away from your mouth. Follow the instructions and if in any doubt go for a lesser concentration of DEET.
That being said it works. It will generally prevent most insect bites if applied properly but it has a certain odour designed to deter the female of the biting species. It probably works with human females so be warned.
It is not the most pleasant of repellants but for extreme circumstances and for those prone to being bitten/stung/sucked and generally bothered by insects it is the best that is out there providing you have no problem with putting a fairly noxious chemical on your skin.

Bought this product to fight off the mosquitoes during a trip to Thailand.
Firstly, neither I or my wife can vouch for the product as we both look like relief maps of the moon! - this is despite using it regularly.
Secondly, it has an amazing propensity to ruin many surfaces.
It completely ruined the varnished floor in our hotel room - a strange melted mass is left where once was a highly attractive glossy finish.
It completely ruined the nice surface of the tiles in the bathroom of our next hotel.
My wife's watch now works no more - upon reading the small print it says 'don't use near watches - how could we have been so stupid as to anticipate that a product could ruin a watch that has been working quiet happily for the last 30 years?
My Nikon lens cover is now also ruined - I kid you not, dear readers of this review, i merely brushed against my wife who was wearing this destructive product for a brief second and the plastic cover is melted enough for me to have to replace it on return from holiday.
What effect can this have on human skin, I hear you ask? amazingly nothing so far is the answer. - apart from the fact that I suffer from psoriasis on my knuckles.
I have to share the fact that those knuckles are currently looking as if I am in the process of turning into an alligator.
I rue the day we saw this product advertised, I rue the day even more that I actually parted with money for it.
The hotels in which we stayed will no doubt rue the days that we stayed in their rooms and used the product.
I trust I will have, by now, made my feelings quite clear as to my impression of this liquid.

A nurse recommended this 100% DEET product from the Amazon online store. It really is the best mosquito repellent I've used. I went travelling around Sri Lanka, staying in the hill country, mountains and beach resorts, not all places had mosquito nets, every night before venturing out, I'd smother myself in it and i only got bit once (truth!).
The product is quite oily, looks like you've applied baby oil, but rubs in, a little goes a long way (although I hosed myself down with it, just to be safe!) I kept touching my arms/legs/face (out of habit throughout the night) and found the product easily transfers to fingers, not a great taste when nibbling bread/snacks (perfect reason to wash your hands more!). Also it seemed to melt my nail varnish off and the make dyes come off my shoes and watch (cheap material to blame though!). Really recommend this product!

I have just taken part in a charity cycle ride from Ho Chi Min City to Angkor Wat, I was terrified of being bitten as it happens everywhere I go, I saw this and gave it a try, not one bite, it is easy to use under your sun block. I put it on first thing in the morning re-applied at lunch time then after my evening shower, My skin was not affected in any way, It is just oil with no smell, would def recommend it xx Oh and the trip was A mazing xx

Holiday
We've used this product for a few years now and we wouldn't use anything else now you can also get it in deet 55 which is also very good , and it does last the whole holiday .
