Product works very well... shame my camera is not recognised by my new mac!
Gutted!!
As it is an old video camera (even though still digital)
it has no apparent compatability with my mac

My iMac has a firewire 800 connection, whereas my old camcorder has a firewire 400 capability.

This converter ensures that the camcorder works perfectly with the iMac.

Excellent, and recommended.

Works great 9 Mar. 2010

I'm using it to adapt a PreSonus FireBox into an Ableton Live setup on a new MacBook Pro 17" and it works perfectly. The cable is flexible so it's not cumbersome, it stays plugged in to the computer with enough force that I'm not worried that it will dislodge during recording or performance. Low enough profile so that other cables (USB, ethernet) will plug in as neighbors without touching or being forced in. Definitely would recommend.

so far so good 9 Jan. 2010

Got it today to connect 24 in alum iMac to Western Digital MyBook 1TB external hard drives using their old Firewire400 cords. Seems to work so far. Seems sturdily made. I like how it doesn't stick straight out from the back of the computer just begging to be snapped off, like other adapters. Apple now sells this product on their website for more than Amazon.

I use this cable on the newer Mac Mini (2009) to connect an older FW400 drive and iSight camera. Works perfectly. I only wish it cost less. :)

Flawless Product. Perfect solution. 15 May 2010

When I bought my MacBook Pro I failed to realize at the time that the firewire port is an 800. I was still producing music on my oldschool G4, but I recently decided it was time to move the studio on to the new book. My M-audio firewire 1418 works better than ever on my MacBook Pro with this adapter and the updated drivers for OS X Intel. I was worried that it would not receive power through the bus, but it works flawlessly. The best part is the flexible connector, which I didn't see with some of the other options. This was the perfect solution; I highly recommend it to anybody else that needs to use a firewire 400 device on their MacBook Pro (although I haven't tried anything else yet).

Good Product 7 Feb. 2011

This product performed as specified. I recently upgraded to a 13" Mac Book Pro and needed a way to connect older Firewire 400 devices. Some of the devices I have connected so far include: 2nd generation iPod (click-wheel), Cannon Elura 100 video camera, and a Lacie 250 GB removable hard drive. Each of these devices performed just as it had when used on an older Mac with the older 400 port. Would highly recommend this product!
