I visited Moscow in October 2010 with my girlfriend and this was the guide we used. Lonely Planet books are usually pretty accurate, informative and insightful in their opinions, however this one missed the mark a few times too often and overall cannot be fully trusted.
There were mistakes in the maps (St Basil's Cathedral is not inside the Kremlin!), the entries for sights and districts were often quite brief for such an enormous and culturally rich city, and worst of all, recommendations were sometimes simply bizarre. We wasted a morning on a 'Top Sight' in the book, a house of ice sculptures in what turned out to be a small shed in a distant, undeveloped part of the city - and which took 5 minutes to walk around when we finally found it. The book didn't even have a complete transport map on how to get there and I am not convinced that the author had visited it before recommending it.
Overall, if you do buy this guide for what can be a challenging city to visit, beware of the maps inside it which have several errors, and consult an alternative info source too. Enjoy your Russian trip!
