More About the Author

Patrick Gooch has enjoyed an interesting and varied career.
He studied History of Art, and went on to lecture at the Central School of Art and Design in London. However, marketing has long been his main occupation, and in this role he has worked for a number of German, American and British leading international companies.
In the UK, Patrick was appointed chief executive of a government-inspired trade council; and he set up the organisation `Foods from Spain` on behalf of the Spanish government. This led to the award of `Commander of Civil Merit` conferred on him by King Juan Carlos.
Married with two sons, he lives close to the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex.

Product Description

'Thought provoking and intelligent thriller from a new master of the genre' --Metro

'A real page turner that jolts us out of complacency with a bold and clever plot' ----Dazed & Confused

Gooch predicts a female Islamic prophet will shake up our views of men and women's roles under Islam. The Arab Spring seems to be doing the job equally well... this is a kind of detective/adventure/ thriller that bowls along with the archeologist hero (shades of Indiana Jones, only more English)facing one challenge after another. It would make a decent movie and the ending in New York at the Un building is spectacular.

About the Author

Patrick Gooch enjoyed a varied career prior to becoming a writer. His first thriller 'The Dark Side of the Balcony' met with success and was taken up by book clubs. He was awarded the 'Commander of Civil Merit' by King Juan Carlos of Spain for his work promoting Spanish cuisine. Married with two sons, he lives close to the Ashdown forest in East Sussex.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indianna Jones for Adults. Truly Superb! 15 July 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Well, what can I say? I purchased this book about a month ago and started reading it last week. I found myself being late for work and arriving early for appointments just so I could sit in my car and continue reading it. I just found it impossible to put down. On top of that I purchased three copies of this book, one for me, one for my wife and another for my mother-in-law and we were all blown away by it.

This book is like Indiana Jones for adults, it's a real adventure and the author has packed in some of the most incredible detail I've ever read. Patrick Gooch must have the most outstanding memory to be able to juggle all the detail. Dan Brown eat your heart out!

Mr Patrick Gooch - Thank you for a very enjoyable ride.

2.0 out of 5 stars Deceptive reviews 15 Feb 2012
By Cora
I purchased this book on the strength of, admittedly only, three reviews on this site. The premise is intriguing but the execution is sloppy. The characters did not jump off the page for me; everything happened very quickly and difficulties were smoothed over; on occasion, the spelling left a lot to be desired and so did the attempts at German. (I cannot comment on exotic/extinct languages featured in the book, but the odd snippets of German did not ring true to me). I finished the novel as I was hoping for a gripping finish but unfortunately I was disappointed in this respect as well. Two stars for research and interesting subject matter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far better than the Da Vinci Code 6 Feb 2012
If you want an intelligent, well written alternative to the Da Vinci Code then this is the book for you. Patrick Gooch has clearly researched his subject and the book is full of excellent detail. That said, though, it moves along at a good pace and I found it hard to put down - always wanted to read just a bit more! Also for me, unlike the Da Vinci Code, I was satisfied with the ending. Buy it, read it, you will not be disappointed. The characters are well drawn, the plot is good, and as I said earlier the attention to detail is superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best read in along time 30 Oct 2011
These days, i do not often get time to read the news paper let alone read a book but having been lent Patrick Gooch's book,The Dark Side of the Balcony i was intrigued enough to buy his new book Mosaic Deceptions. From the opening page i was caught up in the novel. So much so, that i devoured it , from cover to cover, in just a few days. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely look out for more of this authors work.
