5.0 out of 5 stars Ooh mama, too hot, too sexy too spicy....... 25 Oct 2009
By ROROBLU'S MUM TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
This is only my second book by this author, the first being the prequel/connected book Mortal Temptations, but this can be read as a stand-alone. Firstly, this book needed to come with a warning of M/F/M, M/M/F and M/M scenes, as though I expected them, they might not be to everybody's tastes. Me, I'm sure glad they were there!!

Long, long ago, Demetri, a tiger-shapeshifter demigod, had been tasked with capturing the evil vengeance demon Valenarian, and she ended up in service for 3000 years as a high priestess and PA to Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Having loved Demetri in all of this time, and having taken a vow of celibacy, Val has fulfilled her role of bringing together couples, but Aphrodite gets word that Valenarian's evil demon side seems to be re-emerging, as she has been sleeping with and killing unfaithful males and taking pleasure in this, though her 'good girl' persona, Val knows nothing of this (Valenarian is the stronger persona, and suppresses Val when she wants to come out to play). So, Aphrodite approaches Demetri with a deal: he has 14 days in which to merge Valenarian and Val permanently, or V/V has to die.

V/V does not know about Demetri's mission or Aphrodite's plans for her, and she assumes that she is on a mission to ensure that Leon, an Alpha male, ex-armed forces, still-in-the-closet shifter meets with his HEA, but Valenarian emerges and seduces Leon herself, though the next day, V/V does not recall this and does not understand Leon's familiarity with her, but Demetri begins to understand what is happening, and turns voyeur to observe them.

Demetri has always been bi-sexual, as well as being in love with V/V, and is attracted to Leon, who up until now has been staunchly hetero...

4.0 out of 5 stars "Mortal" series book 2 31 Aug 2009
By Book Addict TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Although the second in a new fantasy romance series, it isn't necessary to read book 1 "Mortal Temptations" first as Demitri; having appeared in book 1 is the only common connection.

Demi-god Demitri fell in love with Valenarian; a vengeance demoness he was assigned to seduce, before Aphrodite imprisoned her. Now several thousand years later he is instrumental in ensuring Val's survival. Despite brainwashing by Aphrodite and her inner demoness subdued under the timid persona of Valerie, Val's alter ego still makes an appearance and the other Gods want her destroyed. With only 14 days to successfully merge Valerie and Valenarian, Demitri and Val soon have the help of shape shifting mortal Leon, who too quickly falls in love with Val whilst finding himself attracted to a man for the first time.

This book worked well for several reasons. I liked the dual nature of Val; one timid the other wildly sexual, and the fact that Leon falls in love with Valerie, whilst Demitri's heart belongs to Valenarian. Although two very different personalities living in the same skin, AJ is able to make vengeance demoness Valenarian a sympathetic character, despite her penchant for ripping cheating men to shreds with her claws.

With plenty of passion, action, and the interference of vengeful Gods and Goddesses, "Mortal Seductions" is an exciting and red hot fantasy romance. AJ again returns to an exotic location, in this case Egypt as Leon and co. join an archaeology site headed by his younger brother. Amid the desert setting a series of heated seductions take place; mf, mfm and mm as Leon and Demitri's relationship deepens alongside their feelings for Val. Further romance is in the air, the hunt is on to find a cursed necklace and a thief stealing relics from the dig and yet still the clock ticks down until Valenarian faces death.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're looking for a good time... 8 Sep 2009

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I absolutely loved this book, the loosely based followup to "Mortal Temptations", which I also highly recommend.

There are M/M and M/F/M and M/F scenes in this book. Something for everyone, and quite a bit of it. This is one of the more erotic books I've ever read especially with regards to the M/M scenes, how Dimitri tutors Leon who has originally identified himself as straight. But its done so well that you can't help but love them all.

But more than that is the relationship that develops with the 3 main characters and their love for each other. Its a unique situation after all, one's a demigod,. one's a demon and the last is a mortal shape shifter.

If you're looking for great erotic scenes and characters (especially alpha males) this is a must read. I also love how the various gods play a secondary role in the background. All Ellora's Cave fans should definitely read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Hot and Steamy 22 April 2010

I won't rehash plot details, as they've been covered very well by other reviewers, but the bottom line here is that James has written a very good book.

(I don't think anything that follows is technically a spoiler or anything that hasn't been mentioned in other reviews, but anyone who wants to avoid even a hint of spoilers may not want to read on.)

For fans of romance/erotica, it's got pretty much everything: 2 alpha males (a demigod who can become a tiger, and a Cajun shifter who can become pretty much any animal he wants) who are both super-sexy and very sexual; a woman who has to endure a constant struggle between her demon self (who is also exceedingly sexual) and the aspect of her nature that doesn't want to hurt anyone; gods; archeology; reunited lovers; new lovers; a man who considered himself to be entirely straight yet finds himself drawn to another man; and of course, a plethora of incredibly steamy sex scenes. In that regard, there is something for everyone: Val (the female character) gets together with both guys, both individually and as a group; and Leon (the aforementioned Cajun shifter) explores his sexuality with Demitri (the demigod), who enjoys both genders equally, and has thousands of years worth of sexual expertise under his belt (pardon the pun).

In short, the book is incredibly steamy, and the love between Val and Demitri, Leon and Val, and eventually Demitri and Leon is intense, and given a lot of depth so that the reader isn't left feeling as though anyone's feelings just came out of nowhere or were somehow tacked onto the story. This is a great read for anyone who enjoys menage stories with a paranormal twist.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shifter/Tiger shifter-demigod/Demon Romance 5 Aug 2010
By Avid Reading in NV - Published on Amazon.com
Val is a vengeance demon, she punishes cheating husbands. That is until Demitri, tiger shifter-demigod, turns her into Aphrodite. Val becomes a celibate servant, taming her demonic ways, matchmaking for Aphrodite. After 3000 years of servitude Val goes to Egypt to make a match. Unbeknownst to Val her demon side has been coming out breaking her celibacy, Valenarian slept with shifter Leon. Demitri is in Egypt as well to watch over Val, when he learns of Valenarians night with Leon he takes her to be punished by Aphrodite. Leon refuses to leave her side and refuses to have her killed. With the Greek Gods out to have Val killed Aphrodite sends her on a path to her potential saving. With Leon and Demitri working together to save Val they are all sent on a path, learning to Love and trust each other.
This is a fun read, there is Egyptian mythology included. The pace is good. Anyone who likes paranormal erotic romances will like this. There is m/m, m/f/m, m/f scenes.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Hearts from TRS! 27 Oct 2009
By Tina Pavlik - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
"This is the second book in this series and it does a great job of keeping the heat up just like the first book did. This story is intriguing, full of complex characters, and it is also very entertaining and full of smoking hot sex scenes. This book is a wonderful mixture of so many wonderful things and I had no problem at all with it holding my interest until the very end. Valenarian and Dimitri's past makes for any interaction between them to be very explosive and potentially dangerous to those around them. This is where Leon comes into the picture. Now if you do not care for sexual relationships between men, you may not want to read this book. While it is not the main relationship and does not take center stage in this book, it is still a very important part of the story. In order to save Val, Dimitri and Leon must teach her to control her inner demon or Aphrodite will be forced to kill her. That's if the other greek gods don't interfere first. This story is fantastic. Danger surrounds them at every turn. There are numerous side stories throughout the book and the support characters are phenomenal. This second installment in the series is sure to please any readers that enjoy books full of sexual heat, intriguing characters, mythology, and so much more." - Jacquelyn R. Ward
2.0 out of 5 stars I tried to like this book, I really did. 7 Nov 2013

As I look back, I can see there was a basic plot: make the changeable good/evil (chaste/sex demon) Val into a composite who is good but loves lots of 3-way sex. Add some gods & goddesses to set the ever-changing rules of the game, because gods are capricious, right? So if the plot is inconsistent, that's only to be expected. At some point, Val & her two guys decide that having lots of sex is the way to resolve her dual nature, thus giving a reason for most of the book. At the very end, it turns out that Val's willingness to sacrifice herself to save her two guys is the real way to resolve her dual nature.

I like characters with substance, and a plot that develops the characters so I can relate to them as three-dimensional and real. (OK, "real" is relative since I do like paranormal!) In Mortal Seductions, I had to work hard to find the plot, and the character development was pretty much absent.
