Toby Reynolds (DJ Scud) along with Jason Skeet (Aphasic) are talented producers of the Ambush Label and this defining sound called splatterbreaks/harshstep/drill&bass". In a time of stagnation in the crossover genres, this sound combines destruction, vengeful dreadlocks, gunshots, carcrashes and amphetamine induces snares creating music that cannot be stopped, even with the most powerful countermeasures. Mortal Clash is a workout if your body can keep up and a great anthem to prepare you for a day of wreckless endangerment. For those artists who consider themselves producers of "drill&bass" (you know who) cannot come close to the post-apocalyptic soundclash that Ambush creates. I-Sound who is responsible for several tracks, is a NY Veteran of musique-concrete and experimental sound creations. He cannot be compared and creates other more atmospheric sounds than Mortal Clash. Check out his beautiful works with To Rococo Rot. Find labels like Full Watts, Praxis, Peace Off, Suburban Trash and Low Res for more insane harshstep goodness. PS-Check out Wasteland, Scud & I-Sounds new duo project!

When I had first heard this album, I was at a friend's house. He had the track: "Trauma (Bury Your Dead Mix) on and I commented on it sounding like "Trash men from an insane asylum with laser guns coming to take over the world.". This album is very fast with loud distorted noises that just make you want to jump around and use all your energy. The vocals pretty much consist of loud screams and the occasional: "Oh My God" (Next One Dead). However, apart from the loud noises and high tempo, it is very creative; this album incorporates clever beats that are easy to dance to with sounds that I have never heard before on a cd. For example it sounds like the drum beat in some places is actually a shotgun being reloaded (Short Sharp Shock (Version)). I don't recommend you buy the cd if your ears are inexperienced, but if you want some adrenaline pumping music that gets your heart beating you MUST check it out. (Also, if you like bands like Rage Against The Machine, you might like this cd; however it does not really have a message behind it, like Rage does)
