Having already enjoyed the advantages of steam generator iron I was anxious to replace the now defunct one asap. I was guided by Amazon star ratings and customer feedbacks in selecting the Morphy Richards 42241. I am very happy with its' performance and the ease of refilling the water tank is a particular improvement on my previous generator iron. As I [sadly] often have a large mass of ironing to manage, the speed with which it is ready to use after refilling is a boon to me.

I've owned a Morphy Richards steam generator for years but it eventually died. I bought this as a replacement, not realizing that the anti-scale cartridges for the 42241 differed from my old machine - not only in design but, more importantly, in price. The old machine cartridges cost in the region of £8.49 for 5 - the 42241 cartridges cost £8.49 each! Also the cartridge is encased in thick plastic which is discarded upon replacement - not very green at all Morphy Richards. Can anyone tell my why a perfectly good design has been adversely altered? Unlike the previous model, you can't adjust the steam flow so the ironing results aren't quite as good on thick, heavily-creased fabrics. Can I have my old machine back please?
