5.0 out of 5 stars Great product 5 Dec 2009
Absolutely wonderful product, does what it sets out to do and with style!
Personally we like it's shape better than the more conventional deep-fat fryers and the quality of finish is second to none. The ease with which it dismantles for cleaning couldn't be easier, even the control panel and supply lead is removable as a single unit for cleaning! The supplied oil-storage bottle, which incidentally fits conveniently inside the fryer, makes the job of straining and storing the oil an absolute breeze. No need for a separate strainer, it's built into the container!
The large capacity (double handled) basket makes for ease when feeding hungry children who want more than a small handful of chips. All in all a superb addition to any busy household! 10 out of 10! Morphy Richards Harry Ramsden's Fryer 45076 Stainless Steel

1.0 out of 5 stars Morphy Richards Harry Ramsden Fryer 45076 18 Mar 2008
DO NOT BUY THIS FRYER. I bought this for 'easy cleaning' and a higher capacity basket. The first time I used it we filled it with 3ltrs oil and did not exceed the 1.2kg capacity. The chips were slightly damp and the oil overflowed all over the place, making a terrible mess. The next time I used it, I made sure the chips were as dry as humanly possible. The oil overflowed again. I hadnt realised there was so much oil still inside the workings of the fryer and it burnt onto the heating element. This made a terrible burning smell thoughout the house even though we had used our extractor at full power.

It took many, many hours of painstaking hard labour to clean the burnt on oil from the tank and every other part of the fryer.

My third attempt was with a completely clean fryer. The chips were dry and by now the oil was low. IT OVERFLOWED AGAIN. Cleaning it this time did not take so long but it seems I have to accept that every time I use it, it will overflow all over my worktop and that I will have to thoroughly clean it, without exception. I WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT. ... For the hard work involved this is a very poor value product.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for the price 3 Jan 2010
What a great addition to my kitchen! Never normally a fan of fryers but this one has changed my opinion. No problem with overflowing or overcooking and have used it with a full basket many times, never had soggy chips yet!
Always find the trick is to lower the basket in slowly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Frying temperatures 3 Jan 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
The recommended temperatures for fying chips were too high and produced hard chips.By reducing the temperature to 150 from 190 a better result was obtained.Otherwise a first class product

4.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable fryer 6 Sep 2008
Good fryer, decent size to ensure it will feed a family of four with a single use. No problems with overflowing as other review. Keep oil at recommended temperature, removing water/ice from food and do not overfill the basket, as you would do with all fryers, and you will enjoy this product. Four stars because the lid sometimes opens when lifting the basket - locking mechanism could use some attention.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk 4 Jan 2009
Unfortunately not quite bad enough to take back, but it does indeed overflow unless you get the chips bone dry and lower them in very gently, with the lid open so you can watch the oil heading up the pan. Cleaning up an overflow takes about half an hour as this thing is full of nooks an crannies for hiding oil. The temperature/time guide is a joke and the capacity is a myth (because it overflows). It doesn't even make up for this in appearance. Don't buy it. Update - I did take it back.
