Product Description

Product Description

The Morphy Richards Opera cordless jug kettle is a simple, everyday kettle with some great features for a busy kitchen. With a capacity of 1.5 litres, it features a water-level indicator so you never boil more water than you need. A concealed 3kW element means it boils quickly and the optional whistle function lets you know when the water has boiled, so you won't forget you turned it on and don't have to keep checking it.

The Opera kettle also features a removable limescale filter to help you keep your kettle clean and working at its best, along with cord storage so your work surfaces are tidy. The boil-dry protection offers added peace of mind to families with children. With a twin illuminating water gauge and 360-degree base, the Opera kettle is ideal for right or left handed users.

Only one reservation 19 Dec 2009
I am delighted with my kettle in all respects except one. I bought it because I had lifted it in a shop and found it to be very light in weight and I am not disappointed in that. On the down side it continues to boil for a long time after coming to the boil which is a bit disconcerting. I tried to phone Morphy Richards helpline and hung on for 12 minutes without an answer so finally wrote them to ask if this was normal. The answer came back (more than a week later!) that it was normal for a rapid boil kettle to continue to boil for up to 20 seconds. I've got used to it now and just switch it off when it comes to the boil and I must say it does boil extremely fast. You do have to be careful however if you fill it to its fullest capacity to be around when it boils because it will boil over under the lid and drip down the sides and at that stage you have to be careful not to scald yourself when you turn it off.

Very noisy 5 Jun 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
Purchased to replace our previous 3 kilowatt high speed kettle which was getting old. This Morphy Richards 43676 model is extremely noisy, enough to prevent normal conversation within the room. Otherwise it does what it says on the box. I would not buy this particular model again.

This is the second Opera kettle we have owned, the first one lasted 7 years, three of which were at our son's university house and the last three, working full pelt at our busy B&B in the Lake District. Truly tried and tested! One grumble - the lid is tricky to lift up one handed - but it does stay up whilst you fill. We only ever boil the amount we actually need, and uses a plastic jug to do this. Easy peasy. Whistle easily turned off on base switch if too annoying. Highly recommended. Very reliable.

very pleased - exactly as described
Our last kettle lasted 6 years so this has a lot to live up to! So far we're really happy with it. We get through quite a few cups of tea and the kettle hasn't annoyed in any way.

Morphy Richards Kettle
Excellent for left- and right-handers. Boils very quickly. Light weight. Quiet. Manufacturer recommends to add water through the spout not the lid to reduce limescale. Read more
