5.0 out of 5 stars Really good kettle and value for money 13 Mar 2011
    By Solus
Bought this kettle as my Dualit Jug Kettle gave up the ghost after just 2 years, it would have cost me 70 to replace it so I decided that I would try the Morphy Richards one and have not been disapointed at all with it, in fact shape size and look is almost the same as the Dualit, it's very quiet when boiling and most importantly light enough to lift when full and didn't cost the earth.

All in all very delighted with the product and would not hesitate to recommend it to others

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the Job 19 Mar 2012
Filling this kettle was very straightforward; you can either pour directly into the spout which is a good size or open the lid. The lid is opened by squeezing in a latch on the top which is very easy and does not require a lot of strength or dexterity. The lid then flips right up making quick filling very simple. The lid then closes with a reassuring click.

Once the kettle is turned on it boiled rapidly. It takes less than 3 minutes to boil 1.5L of water which I think is quite quick. The power level is 3KW and the element is concealed. I find this very useful as I live in a hard water area and scale does build up less rapidly in flat bottomed kettles. The noise level seems very acceptable to me, my last kettle sounded like a spaceship taking off and this one is definitely a lot quieter.

Pouring the water out of the kettle is a delight. The handle is well designed and very easy to grip. The ergonomics allow for a comfortable pour that is easy to control. The spout is large but designed so well that the water goes exactly where you expect in a nice steady stream.

Inside the spout there is a filter which can be removed and cleaned which is useful with our hard water.

Overall I have been very pleased with this kettle. I think it looks attractive in my kitchen and it boils rapidly and pours well.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Good 24 Jan 2011

A little noisy but fast boil kettles tend to be. A nice compact sized kettle which does the job. No unpleasant after taste with the boiled water, although I did fill and discard 3 times before use. No leaks so far either. The spout is quite large and a lot of steam does escape, however theres no splash back when you try to fill the kettle from the tap so you can't have one without the other I suppose.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tastes of plastic 2 April 2012
I bought this kettle to replace a similar earlier model which had lasted 6 or 7 years. The newer design no longer has a red indicator lamp, useful to indicate whether switched on. The transparent plastic level indicator does not have litre or pint markings. But worst of all is the taste of plastic in tea made with it, remaining unpleasant after using it a couple of dozen times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Built With Ergonomics in Mind 26 Oct 2011

Bought this kettle to replace the model it superseded. It boils more quietly than previous model and the 'on' switch is easy to use.
My wife's grip isn't as good as it used to be but she manages to hold and lift it OK. I, too, find the handle well balanced and easy to lift.
A lovely kettle at an affordable price.

    1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this kettle 26 Mar 2011
The plastic water indicator came loose in mine after 12 months, leaking water everywhere - very unsafe. The retailer (Dunelm Mill) could not help as the warranty was up. Morphy Richards weren't interested. I had people staying so fortunately I had my old back-up 4.99 kettle sitting a cupboard (which I'd got from Morrison's a while back) and that is still going today. Save your money - buy a cheapy kettle and a Brita water filter! Or use an old fashioned stove kettle.

3.0 out of 5 stars metallic taste 10 July 2012
    Verified Purchase
Had this kettle a week. Cannot get rid of the foul metallic taste, or smell ! I phoned the helpline and they told me it`s a problem all new kettles have and that I must keep on flushing it through with bicarbonate of soda and if that doesn`t work, de-scaler and never to leave water in it overnight as the taste may come back !? I`m back using my old kettle !

1.0 out of 5 stars Burnt plastic taste 12 April 2012
Boiled it few times before making tea. The water tasted and smelt of burnt plastic.
I phoned the Morphy Richards Helpline to make them aware, but they didn't even want the model number etc. to collect the feedback.
Just told me to try a few more times then return it.

    It's going back tomorrow.
