I bought this for my partner's 79yr old mother, who was intent on having "something nice".
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you can draw your own conclusions on whether or not you like this kettle. If you do, then beware - Argos have been discounting a very similar kettle which (as it's similar) is not quite the same in its design.
On to the practicalities:
This kettle has a larger footprint than most, due to it's conical shape, yet has a slightly smaller capacity than many
The water level indicator is in line with handle and switch. Form over function ... and it's very difficult to see (even when you put the kettle down and turn the indicator to face you)
It's noisy. When it's boiling a relatively small amount of water it's even noisier.
Scale seems to be building up around the rim of the lid
I don't find the handle ergonomic
Household members have taken to wiping splashes off it after every fill, to avoid water marks
On the positive side, it seems to pour without dripping ...

This kettle is inspired by the Alessi kettle of the 1980s and hints of Art Deco. The metallic red is wonderful and brightens up the kitchen during bleary eyed breakfasts. It is filled through the spout and it pours without dribbles spoiling the immaculate finish. The only down point is the noise it creates as it is coming to the boil; it's quite loud and sounds as though it's heating up when empty!

Absolutely love this kettle. It looks so fab, and boils really fast. The only down side is the water level indicator which makes it quite difficult to see the amount of water in the kettle. With reference to the review which said the water in their kettle had a plasticky taste; we've had no trouble whatsoever with ours.

LOVE this kettle
