It boils quickly and looks good in our kitchen. I used to have a lovely whistling stove-top kettle but decided to get an electric one because the stove-top took almost FIVE MINUTES to boil enough water for two cups of tea... I bought this kettle (in a different colour, but the model is the same) about four months ago and have experienced no odd taste to the water as reported by some. Granted, it isn't the quietest kettle in the world but since it's only on for a minute I don't consider the noise to be a problem.

What a brilliant kettle this is, after having a Russel Hobbs for many year it took a last breath and died on me, I decided to by a more traditional kettle the reviews on this one aren't great but liked the style and the "(great price compared to the high street a winner again Amazon thank you)" :) When it arrived opened it and was immediately impressed with the quality, style and colour, it is extremely quiet and quick to boil a clear light on front of kettle lets you know its on, a water measure just under the back of handle allows you to see how much water is in, and it pores well, all in all very smart efficient kettle, only time will tell if its going to last as long as my Russell Hobbs. My advice to anyone contemplating buying this is give it a try you have nothing to loose.
