After my £8 tesco value kettle broke, I thought I would splash the cash a bit and go to a morphy richards one instead.

So far, it has been a worthy investment; it boils slightly quicker than most kettles I have had- It takes just under 2 and a half minutes to boil 1 litre of water (that's enough for roughly four cups of tea etc). Asking round, this seems to be a good performance.

As the previous reviewer said, it is rather loud, but I have yet to hear a really quiet kettle! The blue light may seem a bit tacky at first, but it does make the kettle a bit more interesting to look at and does give a quick visual indicator that it's turned on.

It's quick to fill up and the "chrome" trim and reserved green colour means it goes well in most kitchens.

Overall a good kettle, has taught me a lesson never to skimp on the family kettle. Amazon as usual were faultless, and the product arrived within 2 business days.

I love this product. It looks great and boils really quickly. Good value for money as simular kettles cost twice as much.

Compared with others, this kettle is quick to boil. It also seems not to form much limescale - despite being in a hard water area, there is very little scale attached to the surfaces of the kettle, instead it collects as a sludge of flakes that are easily rinsed away.

The instructions that come with the kettle recommend that it be filled via the spout (in order to clear its limescale filter) rather than via the lid. This seems to have influenced the design. The lid does not open very wide and its button release is a little stiff.

As others have noted, the blue light illuminating the water when the kettle is on may seem a rather gimmicky at first but, having been using this kettle for over six months now, is actually a far more obvious indicator that the kettle is on than the small red light fitted to many other kettles.

A very attractive design - we chose green to match the kitchen but it does come in other colours.
Easy fill from spout, integral filter, quick to boil, Blue lighting when on.
Not a quiet kettle but otherwise very good
    Delivery was very quick.

After reading Robert Delamere's review I was slightly worried as it coincided with an article in New Scientist about melamine being found in the urine of people who had consumed hot soup from melamine bowls. Melamine is toxic. The first boil (which I threw away as per the instructions)did smell of plastic, so did the second but this was cured by leaving the kettle full of cold water overnight. I then contacted the manufacturer who assured me that their kettles are made of polypropylene, which is harmless. I therefore have no hesitation in giving this handsome and efficient kettle 5 stars. One more point: 3Kw kettles use less electricity that 2.2Kw ones because they boil quicker and therefore loose less heat while heating up. This one boils a pint of water in 1 minute, but carries on boiling for another 30 seconds before the automatic cut-out operates. You can therefore save about one third of the electricity by switching off manually as soon as it boils when boiling small amounts of water (it boils 1 litre in 2min 23 sec. and switches off in 20 secs.) I don't know about you but I need a cup of tea after all that.

The kettle looks stylish but they could have made the push button opener better
as is not working properly after a couple of weeks.
