i bought this for making fruit smoothies and was attracted by the chrome finish and stylish exterior. mine gave off an electrical smell (which apparently is normal for these appliances when they are new) but on its 5th or 6th use, it started smoking a lot and it splattered some black grease around the turning motor beneath the jug, AND it went through to the inside the jug, ruining my fruit smoothie. it's lucky i noticed it and i consider myself lucky not to have been poisoned! obviously it may have been a faulty unit, but the jug does not sit firmly on the base unit, which means you have to hold it with one hand while putting ingredients in with the other, it's just not a good design. and it makes an awful noise. i found it took about 60 seconds just to blend a few kiwis and a banana. the only positive thing i have to say about it is that the ice crusher does work very well. if you're just mixing drinks and ice then i'm sure it will be fine, but if you plan on using any fruit or other solid food, look elsewhere.
i returned mine and bought the Philips HR 2094 blender which is only a few £ more expensive and a totally better product, and more stylish in my opinion. it is much more powerful and blends in about half the time of the mixology. it is also much quieter. the high quality glass jug means you can see inside. overall the philips blender is a pleasure to use, while i was embarassed by the incredible noise of the morphy richards one (i kept expecting complaints from the neighbours!)

I bought this mixer and then read the reviews below. So I wasn't looking forward to receiving my new blender.

I was however, very supprised. The top is fine, you do need to press down firmly. But would you prefer a top that flies off mid-blend?

Yes, it is laughingly noisy. It's a blender, a 575w one at that so what would you expect? From what I can see, it more if a catering blender. Like one you would see in a pub that serves cocktails (Iced Margarita's, great!!!). This is afterall, a Cocktail Blender.

I made smoothies last night, my partner told me it was the same as the smoothie she gets in a juice bar near where she works.

They were superb, I made two!!!!! It had no trouble blending all ingredients, dropping them through the opening.

In summary,

This blender is noisy. But it does the job it is intended for. Looks good, and makes great smoothies. Cocktails next!

As with all items such as this, reading the manual goes a long way. (Hints and Tips)

I agree with everything the other reviewer said. It looks smart, but is noisy (far too noisy). The jug is very thin & the lid doesn't mate smoothly (bit of pressure needed). Because there's no glass jug supplied with it, you can't see how the "mix" is progressing.

This is the best blender I have ever seen for nuking ice though. The blades are viscious & turn rock had ice cubes to powdered snow in an instant!

Only buy it if you want a noicy ice crusher!
