I purchased this at a special offer price for my other half who had had a hankering for a breadmaker for some time. I actually thought it might have been a one day wonder, but no, its actually been used nearly every day since it arrived. I would probably feel quite lost without the reassuring bleeps in makes in the kitchen now. I would say, fiddle with the recipes, he's got it down to no extra salt and no extra sugar (ready yeast contains some dried milk which again contains natural sugars). If you are of a sweet toothed nature, you'll probably want the sugar left in, but it can be radically reduced by stages to get to the right level for you and to form part of a healthy diet. Again, if you like very savoury bread, leave the salt in, but we found most of the recipes too salty (like much supermarket bread). This is a great way to get Artisan type bread to your table each day, without any real fuss or faffing about. The electronic display was not obvious to work with at the start, not intuitive anyway. As one other reviewer has mentioned, you need to hold down a while to clear or change settings - no mention in the book, we thought it wasn't working and phoned the makers for advice. Its good to be able to set it up with all the ingredients, then go out, setting it to come on later and return to freshly baked bread. It makes excellant ciabatta too. My only concern is that the thing may wear out before we've had it for a year at the rate we use it.
