Our awful blue toaster finally gave up the ghost a few weeks ago, so it was a good excuse to go shopping for a new one. We bought the Morphy Richards Opera Toaster from Comet but it was the same price as is shown here.
Is it worth the money? It certainly is!
We actually use the toaster for 2 slices rather than 4 as we buy Warburtons bread, which is larger than most and to fit 4 slices in you would have to buy..well milk bread to be honest, that awful round stuff.
Anyway, we like the cool digital display on the front and the setting we have it on is 3. The settings run from 1-5 and it's really trial and error to find the one you want but 3 works for us, anything higher and the bread burns! I suppose the bleeper sounding when the toast is ready is a gimmick but a useful one if you happen to be blind. I actually like this feature and the matching kettle whistles too and doesn't get on my nerves as expected.
I really don't know why bun warmers are included with toasters as we never use it. I suppose if you are into warm croissants and the like it may come in useful but we like toast and that's why we bought it as a toaster!
Grills tend to be "add ons" these days with cookers - usually at waist level which to me, isn't very practical. So if you have a cooker with a useless grill then a toaster like the Opera is a must. It really is brilliant, the toast is perfect every time and it has been a great addition to the kitchen. I like the grey, pearlescent colour too which is so different from the chrome products that are around now. Fingerprints DO NOT mark this toaster so cleaning is kept to an absolute minimum!
A must buy in every sense!
