The Morphy Richards Opera Kettle in black has twin water windows which illuminate when switched on, along with a one-cup gauge to help you save energy and money when all you want is one cup of tea or coffee. The optional whistle function lets you know when it has boiled, so no more forgetting what you were doing and having to boil it again later.

I've had the Opera Black Jug Kettle for a week now, here is what I have found;
WHAT I LIKE:
Seems a solid build & has a good base & cord.
Easy to fill through the spout without having to open the lid.
Has a large comfortable handle, & the ON/OFF switch is located on the handle.
Quick boil with hidden element (3000 watts), & boil dry protection.
No noiser than other kettles I have had.
Removable limescale filter that can be washed or replaced.
Lights up a nice blue/purple colour when switched on.
Very easy to see how much water is in the kettle - measures up to 6 cups (1.5L).
Easy to clean with a damp cloth, & no funny taste when first used.
Whistle option (doesn't sound like a traditional whistle).
Register online and get a free extra years guarantee, (2 years in total).
The price was reasonable. Comes with full instructions, & was well packaged.
WHAT I DISLIKE:
Small amounts of steam escape from around the lid - need to be careful.
The lid can be tricky to open, until you get used to it.
When the lid is opened small water droplets can spill around the ON/OFF switch.
With the wide spout I don't think pouring too quickly would be wise.
Despite being good, the overall finish could be of higher quality, e.g, the lid fitting.
It took 13 DAYS to deliver in November, not ideal when you are without a kettle.
I wanted a kettle that performs well, looks ok, lasts a long time & at a reasonable price. I read a large number of customer reviews on a few websites & no single kettle was liked by everybody. I believe this kettle had the most favourable reviews overall & that is why I chose it. I am pleased I did, I think the likes far outweigh the dislikes, & it was a good purchase. I will just have to see how long it lasts now.

Already have this kettle - this one was to replace my mother's very old kettle
Love the whistle as I often forget that I switched the kettle on and had to go back and reboil - no longer.
Can be a little noisy when boiling - but gets to boiling temp really quick

All the good points have been said in previous reviews and I can find no bad points, I have noticed that one reviewer states that the whistle can't be turned off - well it can by the little switch on the base, also another reviewer states that it is too noisy when boiling but I don't think it is.
All in all a very good kettle and Amazon have now sorted out the slow delivery time that was also mentioned in a review - my kettle arrived within 4 working days of ordering.
Time for a coffee now - the kettle has just boiled.

Lid doesn't stay shut!

Replacement not as good quality as original, whistle slower to act. Seems lighter and more flimsy. No choice of colour prefer the original grey.
