Great product, filters and boils quickly (one full filter compartment is enough for two cups). Eliminated problems from our hard water and the tea tastes much better! Worth the money (and it looks good!)

We bought this to replace the Brita branded filter kettle we had for 4 years that started leaking. The Morphy Richards is not a patch on the Brita one and am left wondering why Brita stopped selling their own kettles. Although sturdy, the Morphy Richards plastic looks and feels cheap. There is no measurement on the filter reservoir, so you don't know how much you've put in until it's filtered. Also no way to stop the filtering, what you put in the top you have to boil. Adds up to it not being great for reducing the electricity use by controlling how much you put in. As other reviewers have written, it does take ages to turn itself off once boiled. But not so much a problem as I just flick the switch up to stop it. It also doesn't hold much. We have a big family and have to fill twice to get 6 cups of tea.
Having said that, it does have a nice pour with no drips. Weight-wise, it's as heavy as you'd expect a kettle filled with water to be.
Overall, I am disappointed with this kettle as it is just not a patch on the previous one we had. AS it was £[], will stick with it for at least a year, but will be looking to change it to one that does all the 'stuff' the Brita one did.

I received this kettle on 13 Oct 09 and as per the instructions placed the brita filter firmly into the recess inside. To my amazement the entire plastic insert collapsed inside the kettle itself. I then spent the next hour trying to reposition it, but failed. It appears to me that this is a design fault and after speaking to Morphy Richards helpdesk this is a first!! Item was returned the next day. This plastic kettle with its brita filter may provide great tasting hot drinks but I don't believe that it's built to last and in my case, 1 hour.
