The film documents the fuzzy, pre-leash era of the drug-fuelled early seventies surfing. Without commentary, it portrays the easy-living surfing lifestyle of the era in Australia and the first tentative surfing sortays to Indo. Alby Falzon manages to capture the mood of the moment, at an important period in Australian surfing. It succeeds in portraying the spirit and soul of the free, single-fin surfing of MP, Fitz, Nat Young and the rest. The image of MP frozen in mid-cutback at Kirra, from this film, remains one of surfing's most famous images.
It's a classic film that belongs in any collection, to be watched whenever the present-day, surf-cam, wave forecast pampered crowds in the water make you forget what it used to be like.

Their are many films from the 70's, but none of them come close to "Morning of the Earth" Fantastic surfing from Nat Young, Terry Fitzgerald, and Jerry Lopez.
The Bali lefts are a dream come true in a timeless land, don't miss this one. Five stars are not enough, A all time classic!!
